Any fans of these classic characters? I first learned of Nancy in the funny pages of the daily newspaper, and later found comics featuring her and her aunt. I have several 40s and 50s Nancy, Fritzi Ritz, Tip Top Comics, and Sparkler Comics featuring them. The art is very nice and so many funny gags--even more funny that Bushmiller could convey humor with no words at all sometimes. Aunt Fritzi was always so stylish in her 30s and 40s attire. I believe Fritzi appeared first, maybe even in the 20s and then Nancy came along and became the star. Some of the Nancy comics I have contain very early Peanuts stories. Fun stuff!

Nancy is quite popular in my area and I like to read this strip in my local newspaper and all that. I'm not really into this character but I do enjoyed to the extent and Bushmiller is a master of making it funny with very little words to go on. I'm not a die hard fan - but I've do enjoy the Newspaper Strip & Comics Books too ...

I've read it, now and again. It was a decent strip. I'm actually one of the few who kind of liked the updated look of things, before the current strips went back to the classic look.

Well John Stanley wrote Nancy (and Sluggo!) for a while, and John Stanley is the best writer in mainstream comics ever... so that's a hell of a recommendation.

I don't have a lot of time now, but I'll just say that I've come to appreciate it as one of the best-made comics ever. When I have time, I may go into my theory of why Steve Ditko is a lot like Ernie Bushmiller.

Here's a gag for Nancy that I came up with some years ago.
Fritzi's boyfriend is visiting, and Nancy and Sluggo are just hanging around the house, listening to records and playing Yahtzee.
Fritzi's boyfriend wants to get rid of them. "Hey, why don't you kids go to the bijou and catch a flick? Here's $5."
Their eyes turn into dollar signs! "A WHOLE FIVE DOLLARS?!?!?"
As they are walking to the picture show, Sluggo wonders: "Five dollars is a lot of dough. I wonder why he wanted to get rid of us."
The next panel shows Nancy and Sluggo looking through the window. A word balloon saying "Ooooooooooo ..." points discretely off-panel. Maybe you can see Fritzi's foot up in the air depending on whether you want it to be PG or PG-13. Sluggo's hat is hovering two or three feet above his head, and Nancy and Sluggo both have huge spiral eyes.
The next panel shows Nancy and Sluggo walking along the street. Sluggo says, "I feel like we should give that guy his $5 back!"

I can't say that I ever followed Nancy regularly, but there's something I remember from the early 90s: didn't someone sharply change the style of the strip for a few years, making look very much like an American version of Quino's Mafalda? By the way, here's an interesting piece by artist Ivan Brunetti, who handled the strip for a while.

I have a few issues of Comics on Parade, with Nancy and Sluggo and Fritzi Ritz. I am not and never have been a big fan of Nancy, but every now and then some Nancy panel or strip will strike me and for whatever reason this is one of them. Also one of the ones in the link RR posted, I'll try to find it later.
