I'm having a bit of a difficult time, a lot of my favorite best dressed villains seem to originate in cartoons versus comics or strips. For instance, I love TrapJaw from He-Man...but he was an action figure before appearing in a comic book. Not complaining mind you, the challenge makes it fun after all; I'm just sayin, "What could have been." Yeah, I think the rules are tougher now than for "Best Hero Designs." Like I included David Bowie's Alladin Sane alter-ego (Liked that one better than Ziggy STardust, design-wise) on my "hero" list, but that wouldn't fly this time. (And I can think of a handful of musician-antagonists that could make this list!)

This is proving much harder than I originally thought. I think I'm going to avoid some of the usual suspects.

I've already got a list of 30 and I'm not even done with DC (with the inclusion of two strip villains who will definitely make the top 12).

If there are enough changes, as there were with the Micronauts characters, I'd allow it. Cei-U! I summon the reasonability! Eh, the only real difference was his skin was green instead of blue like the action figure and cartoon. Like I said I'm not bothered that he doesn't fit but his look is cool and was one that definitely sprang to mind when I first thought of the theme.

QUESTION:
Can a villian be on the list multiple times due to costume changes or a you like a costume from a particular issue?

QUESTION: Can a villian be on the list multiple times due to costume changes or a you like a costume from a particular issue? You absolutely can, it was mentioned that you could do your whole list on one character if you really wanted to.

I like this contest topic, though I must admit I haven't yet started thinking about it seriously so it might end up being harder than I expect, beyond the two or three that immediately come to mind. I think a lot of mine will be pretty predictable, nostalgia-driven characters from my days as a young Marvel reader: those early impressions sink deep! Some might depend on whether or not I can find the right image - because if I can't, I doubt I'll be able to explain why I like them.
Going home for Christmas this year, so I'll try to get my last few picks sent in beforehand, as I don't think I'll have internet access down there.

I now have that song playing in my head - probably, going by past experience, for the next few days until I exorcise it by listening to the whole album.

Making my criteria for choices taken from my beginnings with Marvel and DC in the middle of the 70's when i was 1st beginning to connect with comic books. Avoiding newspaper choices as growing up my folks would only purchase the Sunday paper and while I ate those up I don't have strong enough remembrance or connection to those villains.
It was those formative years of buying comic books where nickels and pennies were held in earnest as you seek and search for characters that jumped out at you and captures your attention. Villains especially as they might roam from series to series fighting other heroes so I was constantly on the watch for anything with certain villains I began to like.

See that would be tough for me because so many of the villains I like from my childhood are actually terribly designed visually, and while I would include them in a favorite villain list I would not include them in a best designed villain list as this one is. -M
