Haven't been able to access the site for the past six hours. I've been worrying for the past year that the site doesn't really seem tended to anymore. I'm wondering if this is the end.

Not sure, I haven't logged in to it since I had surgery and only sporadically for a long while before that. I just tried, and got the internal server error. It's happened before though, sometimes for a day or two at a time when I did use the site regularly, so I am not sure if this is a nail in the coffin for the site or just another blip. But yes, the site hadn't been tended actively for quite some time. No contests, no new columns or features, update submissions took forever to process, etc. as most of the admins had moved on and the workload on those who remained was becoming too much. They had been keeping up on adding new release,s but not much else.

I used to be an active user there, but I haven't logged on at stashmycomics for a few years. I just decided to track my collection on a boring old spreadsheet instead. It was a cool site for a time, but I got the sense it was withering on the vine long before the last revamp about 3 or 4 years ago.

For those who are still using it, there's been no doubt for years now that stashmycomics.com is on the decline. I can't recall the last time they had a new contest, their article content is seldom ever updated (and when it is, it's user generated), and that anniversary t-shirt has been solicited for who knows how many years now. But the database feature continues to work perfectly, and it's still one of the best free ones out there, so I continue to maintain my collection index there. Up until now, my one comfort has been that the online community there was still active. I figured that, if there was still a community, there was still a reason for someone to keep the lights on. Well, only this week I realized that I no longer saw any links to a community section. Unless I'm mistaken, their forum is completely gone. So, are we seeing the end stages of stashmycomics.com? Does anyone have more info than I do? EDIT: Just found a backdoor into their forum, and everything is locked, with the most recent posts dated 2019. Did they stop supporting their forum three years ago and I'm first noticing it now, or has there been a mass deletion?

It's been a couple of years since I checked the site, but the last time I was there, the forums were already locked. There were a few collectors I interacted with there that I occasionally swapped con stories with and such so I checked in every so often, but when I saw the forums locked, I stopped. I had stopped using heir database before that because updating newer stuff had become spotty, and requests to add older stuff that was missing had started getting ignored. I switched to using the GCD database to track my stuff and haven't looked back. -M

I've been using the GCD my.comics for my collection since 2009. I can access it anywhere I have a web connection, and downtime usually only occurs during major site upgrades and maintenance updates, which are extremely rare, perhaps 3 times a year. I can also share collection data via link to friends or fellow collectors so that they can keep an eye out for me for certain books. On top of that, it's 100% free to use. Another little-known perk is that you can download all of your collections into csv files as a data backup. I find the information indispensable in the field when I'm on the hunt, and I can tell at a glance if I either have or need a book. It also provides a great amount of detail on book creators and content for most issues. Of course, the "big lift" on the front end is the initial entering of books from your collection, but it's going to be that way with any collection software, paid, free or otherwise.
shaxper , If you decide to go this route, there are few ins and outs, tips and tricks that make navigation a lot easier. I could do a tutorial with you on Zoom if you choose. Just let me know.

I appreciate the offer! Stashmycomics offers similar benefits, but I do worry how much longer the site will be sticking around. I'm not sure I'm looking to reenter my entire collection into another online database at this point, though.
