Funny you should mention green women, Paste Pot Paul. When I first started putting my list together, I noticed that a lot of them were kinda similar. I actually had 7 villains on my list who are women in skin-tight green costumes. I did (very briefly) think about doing a whole list of verdant vixens, but sanity prevailed. So I had to pick just one. But how? Well, my decision to try to avoid repeats helped, since 4 of my 7 have already appeared. And the seven aren't all that similar; each one a worthy pick. I love Madame Hydra's green hair and lips (way to commit to a bit), the Veronica Lake look. Umar's sultry but sinister, with that severe, angular face. The Enchantress has all that blonde hair, and the whole come-hither look and mannerisms. And Hela is tall and haughty, with her height emphasized by that great Kirby headpiece. That leaves me with three to choose from. A Legion of Super-Heroes enemy, really more memorable for her accessory than her actual costume. A Batman baddie who, I'm sure, will yet turn up somewhere. And a character who is a sentimental favorite. And this time, I'm going with my gut. My # 7 - Princess Python
A swimsuit with tights, reflecting her circus background. But the suggestion of scales ties her in to her snake buddy. And that's what really makes this look work for me. (I think I'm justified in considering her pet as a part of her look.) The combination of beautiful woman and scary snake is the old beauty-and-the-beast bit, but with the woman clearly in charge. It's eye-catching, it's intimidating, and I love it. I really wasn't that impressed with the Princess in her Circus of Crime days. But then she went solo, taking on Iron Man. I really liked her in this story. She was vulnerable, tragic, even pathetic, but this story really hit me in the feels, and I've been a Python fan ever since. If I could somehow pop into the Marvel Universe and hang out with anybody at all, she'd . . . well, okay, she wouldn't be my first choice. But she'd make the top ten, for sure. Or at least top 12.

7. HazardThis spot very nearly went to her grandfather, the Gambler, who was a foe of the golden age Green Lantern. Ultimately, I did not have room for both of them, however, and something tipped the balance in favour of Hazard. I guess red hair and fishnets are my kryptonite. I loves me a theme villain, and think there are not enough of them in today's comics, where everyone has to be serial-killing, necrophiliac cannibal. Hazard's costume fits her theme perfectly. With one glance, you can tell that her crimes revolve around gambling. Her costume is a stylized croupier's outfit that evokes 19th century riverboat gambling: a tip of the hat to her grandfather. It has a lot of detail in it without being busy or over-complicated. And she must be the only supervillain to wear an eyeshade. And, as I've already mentioned, I'm a sucker for a girl in fishnets.

It's a bird... it's a plane... it's... Day Six - Vulture II by John Romita (based on Steve Ditko's design) and Stan Lee... ... and with the original... Blackie Drago is my favorite Vulture, the whole story is top notch. Even the weather fights Spider-Man, and he comes out on top. Love Romita's changes on the second costume, the heavier vertical lines and the headpiece don't detract from the original costume and add to it.

7. Chemo, Ross Andru (penciler), Mike Esposito (inker), Robert Kanigher (writer) When I pondered what it was about this bizarre design that I found striking when I first encountered "Chemo" in a reprint issue of Metal Men in the early 70's, I realized that the design evokes two legendary educational "toys" of my youth: the Gilbert Chemistry Set and Visible Man: That's enough to grab the attention of a nerdy 12-year-old boy, but then they amp it up by expanding this bizarre being up to Godzilla proportions! What I always loved about comics was the chance to see something no one had ever thought of before. My high school English teacher, Jane Hall, used to frustrate me with her constant claim that "There is nothing new under the sun." Well, show me an earlier example of a giant, ambulatory glass humanoid monster filled with a bubbling mixture of lethal chemicals, Mrs. Hall! Go on, show me, I'm waiting!

7. Gabriel Airwalker A great look for the herald of the end of the world by John Buscema I love Gabriel! I was thinking of using him but are we counting heralds of the Big G as villains?

In that arc he beat the Fantastic Four up and did a lot of damage to earth. If it wasn't for the Silver Surfer they would never gotten past him.

I always liked the "air walker" aspect to this particular herald, mainly because artist John Buscema made it look like he actually was walking on air, which I thought was a pretty neat visual effect.

I really like the Serpent Squad as well, and though I chose Viper I could just as easily have gone for Diamondback, always liked the relationship there, as if Gruenwald was going for a Bat/Cat thing.

Maybe Miss Hall had read Showcase 39 when she was 12.

Finally getting to participate, and doing so without looking at anyone else's list (so I'm sure I'm gonna forget some, and then slap my head and think, "HOW COULD I FORGET THAT COSTUME???"). my pic for #7: Poison IvyBy far, my favorite villain (Bat or otherwise), she also has the perfect costume, and actually has had the perfect costume since first appearance. (even tho I liked what Tim Sale did in Long Halloween, I still prefer the original - tho non-green-skinned version) what else to dress a plant based villainess in, but an outfit of leaves? just sheer perfection, regardless of how translated. And the red hair against the green outfit. GORGEOUS.
