The Hasbro Studios sales guide PDF announced a Micronauts animated series going into production in 2018 for 2019 release. This is the catalog given to clients to hype upcoming Hasbro series and product lines produced by their marketing department as far as I can gather. There is some concept art for the series in the catalog, and an elevator pitch for the series. It will be targeted for ages 6-11 it seems. Most likely a new toy line (probably completely redesigned for a contemporary kid's audience if the concept art for the animated series is any indication) will follow. Here's the pitch for the series from the catalog... -M

That's a pretty neat look, kind of reminds me of Ben-10

It does look like Ben-10.
It looks like it's going to have a Transformers feel.

I read those comics voraciously when they were new. In retrospect, it would have been better as a 12 issue limited series. After the initial dozen issues, the series putzed around for a few issues and then retold the original story more or less. Then did it again when Force Commander replaced Karza.
I've heard that Mantlo envisioned the story before ever seeing Star Wars, which I find hard to believe, given all of the similarities. Wonder where they'll go with it this time.

Interesting news. I completely agree that animation is the way to go here re: Micronauts - I think that would work a lot better than live action film.
I was a fan of the original Micronauts comics back in the '80's, but never read/collected many of them for whatever reason. I believe there have been licensing/copyright issues which have prevented Marvel from re-releasing the original series (there were some reprints of the great early Mike Golden issues in the early '80's, but that's the last time the series has ever been reprinted). So, I hope that this animated cartoon does well & that it sparks a resurgence of interest in the franchise - which leads to the original comics being reprinted.
