Reviewing GoalsI don't know how seriously I want to take my review threads at this point. They are A LOT of work, I've had to painstakingly restore each twice now (once due to CBR, once due to Photobucket), and I'm not sure anyone ever actually reads any review that's more than a week old, so I'm going to have to continue to ask myself if it's worth it for my enjoyment alone, even if this work ultimately falls to the dark recesses to the CCF back pages. Happy New Year, Shax! I really enjoyed your Superman reviews, and hope you get back to them this year. I'm really curious to see your reviews of the death and return of Superman storyline. So get back to the reviews or I'll have to [comment redacted by team of lawyers].

My buying goals: buy much less, both comics and 'real' books (resolving to quit book-buying cold turkey, which I probably should do, would be be impossible). Which leads to my reading goals: put an at the very least noticeable dent in the reading material I've accumulated over the years.

Read less. I spend far too much of my free time reading, need to get my consumption/creation ratio back to a healthier balance.

And I've had a couple others I'd like to start...but they really are a lot of work. So I dunno. I keep hoping you'll resume the Carl Barks thread, myself. Okay. I will.

Read some of the stuff that's becoming available inexpensively on Kindle (GA Batman and Wonder Woman, The Demon, Omac).
Organize my boxes and get rid of a bunch of stuff, either by selling or donating to the emerging comic collection/program at the university where I work.
Read at least six current history and criticism books on comics.

When I have a little more time I’ll go ahead and put pen to paper on my 2018 goals.
But for now I’m thinking 2018 is going to be a resumption year for me. I want to finish reading a lot of runs that I started but stalled for various reasons over the past few years.

Man, I'd almost completely forgotten about this one! If/when you get around to reading, I'd love to compare notes. If they're at the tail end of the run, good luck! Print run was exceptionally low, and (as a result) I paid far too much to get them myself. It's one of my favorite runs in comicdom though, so I had no regrets. Which? I want to get rid of mine. Now THAT's an impressive goal.

Now THAT's an impressive goal. The Epic Issues are more mid run: 17 (April '83), 20 (Oct 83), 21 (Dec 83). and 25 (Aug '84). The Grendel issues I need are 25, 26, 29-32, 34-40. As for the creative goal, I's 2 pages a month, which should be doable, especially if I find a collaborator, but will depend on how soon I can get the studio done so I have a place to work. It's been 2+ years since I parted ways with the studio and I haven't produced panel one since then, so I need to either actually start creating again or just walk away altogether, and I don't want to walk away. The biggest variable is whether my wife's wrist is up to working on stuff with me and whether she can (or is willing) to make the time to do it. We'll see. It's basically s**t or get off the pot time for me. -M

Resolutions.... not really.
1. Buy no new issues or back issues. I have plenty to keep and re-read 2. Give away my comics; the ones I don't want anymore.

My major goal continues to be to read everything I have.. I made some good progress on back issues, but then I started not keeping up with newer stuff, so I decided to do Marvel Unlimited instead of a monthly DCBS pull and just buy new stuff I really want.

Failed last year’s resolutions in an embarrassingly massive manner, so trying to be more realistic this year.
Instead of multiple readings plans to get thru several of my large unread or re-read runs (Nexus, Grendel, Avengers, JLA, etc), and multiple other goals I tried, I’m going to try to just concentrate on one thing. I’ll read lots of other books hopefully, but my main resolution is to have what I’m calling “my Justice League year”. Hope to average at least one book read a day, starting with The Brave and the Bold #28.
Might take me two years or more, but hope to eventually read every JL comic in release order.

You folks and your crazy Resolutions which end up becoming too much work. Think simple is my plan: read comics and books and watch DVD's. No order, no rhyme or reason to which or what title other than what strikes my fancy. Look over my 2017 reading list: outside of the few new comics I buy (when I buy them, not on a specific release date, but when I can stop at the LCS) and follow (which is less this year) I just pick up and read a single, TPB, Omnibus or Graphic Novel and then move on to something else. I try to keep the read list mixing it up style so if I read a fantasy then switch to super hero or mystery/crime or western or onto science fiction. Variety is the spice of life and helps keep me reading comics and books without becoming too bored or tired of them. Movies/television DVD's are much the same for me. Mix and match all the way...
