Yeah, I would call Dalgoda obscure for anyone who came into comics after the mid-80s. fantagraphics hawked it heavily and some of the other fanzines did; but, it wasn't necessarily a high profile piece, especially given the noise coming from DC and Marvel, at that point in time. A lot of earlier Fantagraphics is probably obscure to a lot of people, much like some of the other indies of that same timeframe, compared to, say First Comics' material and some of Eclipse and Pacific.

I picked Dalgoda off the top of my head, but I might have more obscure books. I would have to go through my boxes to see what I am still hanging on to. Maybe Anything goes?

He had a 4-5 issue series that ran in the mid to late 70s I believe. I had 14 issues and the Summer Special. I had the entire original run of Captain Canuck at one time ... I may have given them away but I'm not sure. I have no idea why I bought this or why I still have it, but this is in my collection: Omigosh, I have that, and it may even be autographed! I'm not even sure why I have it, I think someone gave it to me. I picked Dalgoda off the top of my head, but I might have more obscure books. I would have to go through my boxes to see what I am still hanging on to. Maybe Anything goes? Anything Goes was a fun little series and I have ... most or all of them, not quite sure.

They had a nice Alan Moore story in one of them.

Anything Goes was a benefit anthology that got a lot of press and was supported by some of the biggest name creators in the business at the time, everyone from George Perez, Frank Miller, Jack Kirby and Gil Kane to Dave Sim, art spiegleman, Los Brothers Hernandez and Kevin Eastman. If you were buying comics from a comic shop at the time, you were aware of Anything Goes.

Cool thread. I have a few that maybe some of you haven't seen: I've got one called "Magazineland USA - World Color Press Day" from 1977. It's got Marvel & DC characters together on the cover, and I think it shows how comics are assembled. I have it framed and hanging since it's different and it was expensive. A couple of books I found in dollar bins: Hallie The Hooters Girl, a Rush Limbaugh comic, and several Nascar drivers and a Nolan Ryan comic.

I did buy one of theirs, though, when the Rocketeer was hitting theaters.... Don't think you can call it obscure, with all of the Betty material that was out, at the time.

The most obscure book(s) of mine are those which are in the the bottom long box of comics which are in the corner underneath 3 other long boxes which haven't been opened in years. What comic(s) are those? I got no idea and would have to actually take time to dig that box out and open it up. It is the box i threw in all single or odds and ends collected over during my heyday....

I'm sure I could do a daily Obscure comic here but how about this one? I bought this at Comic Con back in 1995, from the creator. It has primates in space and Jack Davis cover. What's not to love?

Issue 2 is easy to find. The newspaper premiere issue is the tought one. I have it somewhere, along with Justin Green's Sacred and Profane--it's a pain to store tabloid size comics.

More examples of stuff I bought from the creators at a show because I ended up talking to them about how they worked with their cover artists (Swan, Kaluta, Anderson) The stuff inside wasn't quite as good.

Not sure this is "obscure," but it's certainly up there with "A Flintstones Christmas" for anachronistic oddness. Found it in a quarter box somewhere.
