Sorry I couldn't make the above image larger, but anyone here not already familar with Big Bang Comics really needs to track these down. The interiors, though they switched to black and white with the seventh issue, maintain the style and tone of their covers. A really fun series! Great choice. I was tossing up between a cover from Big Bang or one from Fanboy. Ultimately I went with Fanboy (the Kubert cover swung it for me), but I'm glad to see Big Bang represented.

I've got to offer up this one from my old pal Chris Khalaf, who wrote, pencilled, inked, and lettered this tribute to Bob Haney and Jim Aparo (Chris and I published the Jim Aparo Fan Club Newsletter together back in the early 90's).

I love that issue! It was a sweet and touching tribute to Archie Goodwin.

If you click on the image it makes it larger...it's the way attachments usually work on proboards.... -M Thanks mrp. I'm embarrassed at how much I must seem like somebody's grandfather sometimes when it comes to computers. I was trying everything too - shouting at the little picture, pointing my remote control at it, calling the television people...

Am I missing something about Strykerx2k's Wonder Woman cover? How was that retro at the time?

Maybe I'm not getting the concept of this contest... For the benefit of the influx of newcomers who may want to join in on the fun. Each week, we run a cover contest-the winner of the previous week's contest picks a theme-and those who wish to post a cover of a classic comic (i.e. at least 10 years old) that they think fits the theme. You can check out past themes and winners in the Contest hall of fame hereThe contest runs all week from Wednesday when the topic is posted. Post your entry up to midnight Pacific Time on Monday, voting begins at 12:01 Pacific Time Tuesday and runs until midnight. Vote by posting the name of the member who posted the cover you either like best or best fits the theme of the week depending on your own criteria. It's up to each member to interpret the theme and select a cover as they see fit. This week's theme is a little different form most, as it limits the time frame of the covers even more, but that is an exception. There's no real right or wrong interpretation, but your cover must be from a classic comic, and you cannot use a cover already posted for the week by another participant. This week's them was retro-style covers from 1990-2003-but what people consider retro is open to interpretation, if you thought your cover choice was a retro cover published during that time, it's all good. If others agree, they may vote for it, if not they may vote for something else. It's all about having fun and seeing some really cool comic covers. Hope that helps.... -M

The retro theme is to go back to a previous era, like the Bronze, Silver, or Golden Ages with a 1990's cover. It's made to look retro with current characters.
