Does anybody follow the blog " Adventures in the Marvelous Zone"? I don't recall it being discussed here, so I think it deserves a thread. It's my favourite comics blog by a long way. (Well OK, Dial B for Blog comes close, but this one still wins for me). This is why: - It's unique. The author, "Crissy", is reading every Marvel comic from the start, mostly for the first time.
- It's insightful. I read a lot of comic reviews, and she always finds stuff other people miss.
- It's well written: fun to read, and in depth.
- It's complete. There are other blogs that offer new insights, but none as methodically complete as this.
- It's inspiring. Uniquely among blogs that I've seen, she captures the excitement and awe, the thrill and innocence of the tales. Like when she reviews the microverse story and adds magnified photos of sand grains, to show how beautiful and exciting microscopy can be.
- It's perfectly balanced between fun and serious, inspired yet critical. I think she captures the original mood perfectly.
I like her approach and values. Like me, she's less interested in the battles, more interested in the relationships and discoveries. Reading the blog is like discovering these wonderful stories as a child for the first time in the 1960s, yet with the experience and wit of a good modern writer. I suppose different people look for different things, but in my opinion it's the world's greatest comics blog.

Never heard of it, but I just took a look and it lives up to your description. Thanks for letting us know about it, Chris!

Isn't this what Slam attempted a short time back? I think he quit after 5 comics. Instead he's concentrating on country-western/blues birthday announcements

And there's a chance I'll revive it. But I'm not very good at review threads. I love the theory...but the practice is difficult.

It's my favourite comics blog by a long way. Wow. Thanks for all the kind words. We know that you can find other sites like Chrissy's, where the host is going back and reading through the Marvel Silver Age. (I enjoy several of them, but Chrissy can't read them, for fear of being spoiled.) We feel like there are two things that we bring to the table that are a little different from most of the others: 1. It's a girl's viewpoint. As you mentioned, she's not a big fan of the fight scenes (she falls asleep during them), but she can't get enough of the soap opera. 2. Not only is she reading these stories for the first time, she hasn't read ANY stories. She has no idea what the future holds. For me, reading her posts, it's like I'm reading these cherished stories again, for the first time. And you can't beat that!
