I remember my aunt (my father's oldest sister) had engraved orange glass tumblers. They weren't exactly like this, but pretty close. She also had some orange glass dishware. And I remember my mother having orange plastic measuring cups, measuring spoons, and mixing bowls. Maybe orange was big in the 70's? In the way, Orange was a very popular color in the 70's for Breakfast and Lunch use. I recall that because many of my Mother's Friends had Amber like this shown below. Orange and/or Amber was a big hit in the early 70s and still popular until the end of the 80s.

Old Shasta TrailersWe rented this kind during our Trip to Yellowstone National Park in 1965 ... and my Parents slept in that while me and my three older brothers slept in a tent. My Mom had a blast cooking inside that trailer and it was pretty impressive thing that we rented for two weeks and return it with no problems whatsoever and got our security deposit back too. Later on, we used this one (borrowed from a family friend) to our visit in Crater Lake in Oregon and a weekend visit at Mount Saint Helens picking Blueberries and Huckelberries too. I've think this one an older Shasta Model and was a little bit bigger than the one that we rented to Yellowstone National Park. Anyway, those things that we occasionally used for our Summer Vacations and all that. They were pretty cheap to rent and saved a lot of monies on motels along the way ... we usually stay at KOA Campgrounds and that was very convienent for us in those days.

PagersI had two of them - one for work and one for personal use for 8 years. Later on, I got rid of both of them and got this one (below picture) for 4 years and that was the end of it. We used these for emergency purposes so that we can get a hold of you and I gotten about an average of 10-15 pages at work on a weekly basis and about 8-12 for personal use. My last time I had one was the one (bottom photo) was in 1992 and that was a pretty long time ago and after a while - those things were pretty impractial and I didn't even bother with them because most of my friends and family didn't like the idea of me using them. So, with that alone ... I didn't bother get a cell phone and I don't have one either (present day) and my way of communication is through email and appointments via face alone. Back in my days of working ... my Boss always put 555 on the display and that means that I need to get a hold of him ASAP. I had offices in Kent, Bellevue, and Renton at the time and Kent was 551, Bellevue 552, and Renton was 553. I just call the main office number and they transfer my call to the appropiate personnel for me to talk to immediately. I worked at Boeing and that's pretty sums up my business with them and that's why these things were important those days and some companies and some individuals that still use them today. Personally, when Cell Phones came on board ... these things became unnecessary and useless too.

My mom's first cell phone... or even before... The early mobile phones were actually radios (of a sort). You connected to a mobile operator, who then connected you to your party, via a landline. Similar to ship-to-shore radio, at sea. If you ever saw the Shazam live action series, Mentor had one in the Winnebago (should have called it the Shazam-bego, in honor of Uncle Dudley).

I remember, the first time ever hearing this song, running to the radio to turn up the volume. One of Clapton's very best, solo or otherwise.

GI Joes Action FiguresI played with this toy a lot as a kid in the 60s until it gave up on me and sold it to a friend of mine regardless of attention and he managed to get back to normal. See 2nd Picture ... In the above picture here ... I gave him everything here and it's the only figure that I had and I had a sad time letting it go and regret it since; but he's doesn't have this figure here and wants to complete it. In the picture below me is one thing that he really wanted and it's wasn't working at the moment ... I had these for more than 22 years and gave everything here ... for undisclosed and personal price. What's your favorite GI Toy is?

Play DohPopular Toy in the mid 50s to the 70s and beyond. My used to make some form of play doh mixing flour, salt, and couple of other ingredients (one of them was food coloring) and that's all I know. But, my nephews and nieces had a ball playing it when they were little kids and I was too when I was their babysitter occasionally. My grandnieces and grandnephews ... are also having a ball and they learned how to make it so that they can have endless fun creating art for themselves. Matter of fact, I was visiting them this morning and they brought out the play doh and that's prompts me to think something for this thread alone. Play Doh is instant fun for all ages and still a favorite and fun to make ... How to Make Play Doh Six Ways to Make it! My favorite colors are Red, Blue, and Green.

I had the pilot, in the Orange jumpsuit, when it became the GI Joe Adventure Team, to distance it from Vietnam. I also had the headquarters... My brother had the Mummy's Tomb playset and the helicopter... I later got their version of Bulletman... I always wondered about that, since DC had licensed Bulletman, from Fawcett, along with the Marvel Family, at that time. Never read if Hasbro got a separate license from Fawcett or went with their own. Perhaps the trademark had lapsed.

Thanks sharing that picture!

ViewmasterDuring the 60s to the 80s everytime we go on vacation we buy these round slides around 3 to 3.5 inches in diameter and have something to remember by. Those were fun to use and provide you some great entertainment along the way. My favorite was Yellowstone National Park, Disneyland, Golden State Bridge, San Diego Zoo, and many more. Grand Canyon, Yosemite, and of course Houston Space Center as well seeing the aftermath of the Apollo 11 Space Mission there. I had the Batman View Master Reels when I was a kid and had fond memories playing with it. I had this ... and, Superman the Movie as well ... When, my Parents died ... they gave me all these discs for me to enjoy and just finished seeing Superman the Movie and it's was a fun thing to do.

Old Skippy Peanut Goblets and CupsFront and Center is a Cup ... Goblets (Left Picture) for drinking milk, juice, and we even used them for Ice Cream Floats ... Cups (Right Picture) for Pudding, Ice Cream, Jello Salads, and we even used them for Wine on Special Occasions. Goblets are about 6 inches tall and the Cups around 3 inches ... One of my brother has 12 Goblets and 8 Cups at his home and we bring those things out for Special Occasions, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Birthdays and Anniversaries of family members ... and even for Easter, Fourth of July (Cups) for Chocolate Puddings and anything that his wife desires to put in it. We used this special jar for keeping Mint when we have Spiral Ham ... Quite Sturdy and very elegant jar. My grandmother had those!!! She'd serve us Jello with Cool Whip in them! I had forgotten all about those!
