I remember my aunt (my father's oldest sister) had engraved orange glass tumblers. They weren't exactly like this, but pretty close. She also had some orange glass dishware. And I remember my mother having orange plastic measuring cups, measuring spoons, and mixing bowls. Maybe orange was big in the 70's? In the way, Orange was a very popular color in the 70's for Breakfast and Lunch use. I recall that because many of my Mother's Friends had Amber like this shown below. Orange and/or Amber was a big hit in the early 70s and still popular until the end of the 80s. Don't forget how popular green and blue were in 70's bathrooms, too. You can always spot a 70's bathroom by the green/blue toilet and shower. It's interesting the way colors go in and out of fashion.

PagersI had two of them - one for work and one for personal use for 8 years. Later on, I got rid of both of them and got this one (below picture) for 4 years and that was the end of it. We used these for emergency purposes so that we can get a hold of you and I gotten about an average of 10-15 pages at work on a weekly basis and about 8-12 for personal use. My last time I had one was the one (bottom photo) was in 1992 and that was a pretty long time ago and after a while - those things were pretty impractial and I didn't even bother with them because most of my friends and family didn't like the idea of me using them. So, with that alone ... I didn't bother get a cell phone and I don't have one either (present day) and my way of communication is through email and appointments via face alone. Back in my days of working ... my Boss always put 555 on the display and that means that I need to get a hold of him ASAP. I had offices in Kent, Bellevue, and Renton at the time and Kent was 551, Bellevue 552, and Renton was 553. I just call the main office number and they transfer my call to the appropiate personnel for me to talk to immediately. I worked at Boeing and that's pretty sums up my business with them and that's why these things were important those days and some companies and some individuals that still use them today. Personally, when Cell Phones came on board ... these things became unnecessary and useless too. Some people where I work here still have pagers, but we have buildings here where cell phones aren't allowed, so pagers still make some sense here.

GI Joes Action FiguresI played with this toy a lot as a kid in the 60s until it gave up on me and sold it to a friend of mine regardless of attention and he managed to get back to normal. See 2nd Picture ... In the above picture here ... I gave him everything here and it's the only figure that I had and I had a sad time letting it go and regret it since; but he's doesn't have this figure here and wants to complete it. In the picture below me is one thing that he really wanted and it's wasn't working at the moment ... I had these for more than 22 years and gave everything here ... for undisclosed and personal price. What's your favorite GI Toy is? The only GI Joe toy I can remember having (this would be around 1976) was this one, so I guess it would be my favorite:

In my area, there are a few drive-ins that have held on and are used for special screenings, in the summer. They have one in Springfield and it is part of the Route 66 Film Festival. There are a couple of others in Central Illinois, that do the same kind of thing. There were still two in Twin Falls until few years back. But the switch to all digital did them in. The owners didn't see any way to recoup the costs of upgrading the picture and sound so they shut them down. As best I can tell there are only six that are still open in Idaho. I've spent most of my life in Rochester, NY. There was at least one drive-in a few years ago, but no more. However, there are 4 drive-ins within about an hour's drive. Where I live now in Palm Bay, FL, there are no drive-ins even close. However, while I used to love the drive-in, I go to bed so early now that they're no longer practical for me.

ViewmasterDuring the 60s to the 80s everytime we go on vacation we buy these round slides around 3 to 3.5 inches in diameter and have something to remember by. Those were fun to use and provide you some great entertainment along the way. My favorite was Yellowstone National Park, Disneyland, Golden State Bridge, San Diego Zoo, and many more. Grand Canyon, Yosemite, and of course Houston Space Center as well seeing the aftermath of the Apollo 11 Space Mission there. I had the Batman View Master Reels when I was a kid and had fond memories playing with it. I had this ... and, Superman the Movie as well ... When, my Parents died ... they gave me all these discs for me to enjoy and just finished seeing Superman the Movie and it's was a fun thing to do. I think that not too long ago, I saw new View-Masters in the stores, or at least something very much like it. I love it when old stuff makes a comeback!

Does anyone remember the color plastic screen you could put on the front of a black & white TV to "simulate" color TV? I've never heard of it. Sounds crazy! Here is a scene from Star Trek: The idea was blue at the top for blue skies. Green at the bottom for grass. And red in the middle for people. As if every scene had people outside...

dbutler69 ... Thanks for your contributions to this thread and I was pleasantly surprised by your humble comments. I don't know how I've neglected this thread for so long, except that I guess I spend most of what time I have on the comic book threads, but this is great. I love all of these blasts from the past!

Yeah, looks just like the real color Star Trek! Honestly it wasn't that bad. The first color TV sets left a lot to be desired as far as color. I remember having to constantly adjust the tint to avoid everything looking too green or too red.

Of course I had Stretch Armstrong, but I remember the Stretch Monster even more. Sadly, I stabbed with a pencil one day to watch the "blood" ooze out. I wasn't normally so irresponsible with my toys, but I was on that day.

Thank you for this ... I wanted to do this and I'm using the internet for ideas and this topic is quite endless and I'm trying to get people to be aware of things in the past. I grew up from mid 60s and on and I'm letting members here of what we had in the past and wanting you and everyone here to share. I watched a lot of documentaries of things in the past and I've came up with this thread and it's quite simple for me to do this ... I love Retro and Vintage things and enjoyed sharing them to all members and guests alike.

I seem to recall eating at a restaurant a few years ago that had little jukeboxes at each of the booths. It was cool!
