The Johnny West action figure line. I had Geronimo, a neighbor had Johnny, his sister had Jane West and the horses. They came with a ton of accessories. The war bonnet and buckskins are incorrect for an Apache; but, that was America. Big Jim, Mattel's answer to Hasbro's GI Joe. There was also the Wolf PACK, with Jack Kirby artwork, on the packaging... The Evel Knievel Stunt Cycle... Stunt Van... Sky Cycle... I had the stunt cycle and got the Stunt Van for Christmas, while we were in Florida. My mother packed my stunt cycle and hand crank; but, didn't find the Evel Knievele. Instead, she packed my Dr Zaius... Dr Zaius on a stunt cycle is surreal, to be sure. Maybe if they had done that in the films, the series might have gone on longer.

I had that Fisher Price Play farm when I were a wee little lad. Hated the actual animals so tossed them all away and filled the farm with other plastic animals, dinosaurs and whatever else kept my attention. It was my go to carry around for playing with on vacation trips and visits with family get together's and holidays until I became hooked on reading and the toys became less and less played with.

The war bonnet and buckskins are incorrect for an Apache; but, that was America. I inherited a ton of the Marx toys from my two older brothers. Including Johnny West, Sam Cobra, a couple of Geronimos, Chief Cherokee, a passel of horses and the Black Knight and the Silver Knight from the Knights collection. I don't think I ever bought or got any of my own because between the two of them they had so many. The headdress is definitely not right for Geronimo, though he did have more authentic Apache wear that was included. The middle figure in the picture is not a Marx Best of the West figure. I'm 99.9% sure he's from the Lone Ranger collection from 1973. The shirt definitely is.

Big Jim, Mattel's answer to Hasbro's GI Joe. There was also the Wolf PACK, with Jack Kirby artwork, on the packaging... I got most of the P.A.C.K. one Christmas. The exception was the dude in the Village People cap and Jim (because I already had one). But I also got the Howler Motorcycle. The action figures were fine. But DAMN...that motorcycle was incredible. It was just amazingly well balanced. I could put one of the guys on it and it would go completely across the living room without falling down. We lived in a two-story house and that motorcycle made thousands of trips down the flight of stairs with someone riding it and crashing at the bottom. Very well made.

Big Jim, Mattel's answer to Hasbro's GI Joe. There was also the Wolf PACK, with Jack Kirby artwork, on the packaging... Yep, I had Warpath - the Native American wearing the black hat (a school chum of mine had Big Jim, so we would play with them during recess). I also had the comic book featuring Big Jim's Pack, which was done by Marvel - with art by John Buscema.

My cousin had a castle playset; I want to say it was this King Arthur one, as I seem to recall a peaked roof... Might have been something similar; but, I seem to recall red roofing and a grey stone color. Hard to recall details, that far back. I just know I coveted that thing. However, I did get the coolest army man accessory, ever... The flag is all wrong; but, I didn't care. We had a big trestle table in the basement, originally built by my dad, for my brother's train and slot car sets (it had an outlet mounted on it, with a power cord to plug into the wall outlet, to provide power to the toys) The train and slot cars were broken, before I got the Navarone set, and it turned into my own war games table, as I two opposing armies, each with their own fortress. The Fisher-Price garage became one fortress, the navarone fortress the other. Later, my Flying aces Aircraft Carrier Corsairs became air support.... I created quonset huts by cutting old milk jugs in half, then added mesh potato sacking as camo netting. I had sand bags and barbed wire (coil wire from old spiral-bound notebooks), trenches (with gravel from the driveway). It was a masterpiece. And people wonder why I went into the military...

Does anyone remember the color plastic screen you could put on the front of a black & white TV to "simulate" color TV?

Does anyone remember the color plastic screen you could put on the front of a black & white TV to "simulate" color TV? I did and we used it for a couple of years and I'm glad that you've brought it up ...

Old WallpaperWe had a facsimile of this wallpaper in our downstair basement for 11 years until my Dad decided to paint over it with Beige Paint for the basement with Coco Cola Red Banner Wallpaper similar to this one below. I find these wallpaper fun to look at while they last and after awhile - things change and my parents decided to change everything when I left the house in 1985 and they decided to paint the basement off white with dark green trim. My Parents Bedroom had something like this one on one wall of their bedroom along with the Kitchen Nook where we ate our Breakfast before heading to School and my Dad to his work at Boeing. This was the last wallpaper that was removed until 1982 when we took out the wallpaper in our Kitchen Nook and painted white, lemon yellow for trim, and yellow for the overall theme of the Kitchen itself.

Yeah, remember when wallpaper was the thing back in the 70's? Then people realized it was a huge pain if you ever wanted to change it. We had it all over our house. My bedroom had wallpaper with ships on it - and red carpet to go along with it.

Lawn DartsEventually, these this toy was banned from city parks and picnic areas in our State and most places around the United States and were restricted for home use only and that's pretty sums up this particular toy. I've played it a couple of times and I didn't care for it because of my hearing handicap because you have to very attentive to be around this toy. I usually play this by myself using all four darts and it was a fun thing for me to. I did this most of the time when I used this toy. Popular in the late 60s and 70s and people still have them today for private parties and all that. We used to have these, but this is a toy that would never make it onto the shelves these days with the obsessive safety restrictions. Like, I remember sitting on my mom's lap in the car. If that happened today, she'd get arrested!
