I've enjoyed his work in the past, this story on Messner-Loebs is a mix of heartbreaking & inspiring. |

I met Bill at Gem City Con in 2014 and had him sign a few things and bought some stuff from him, I only later found out he was struggling, but I never knew how much until reading this. I wonder if anyone has reached out to Hero Initiative to see if they can provide Bill a helping hand. I talked to the guys from Hero Initiative and one of the things they said they were trying to do in addition to help with things like health care costs was trying to put older creators in a position where they can get work again in comics.
I just reached out to my friend who organizes Gem City to see if I could get contact info for the guys at HI to see if they are aware of Bill's situation and if there's anything they can do.

I all but teared up when I saw this. I met Bill at a couple of cons and he was very nice. One of my favorite writers during the 80s, mainly for Journey and Jonny Quest. A fabulous cartoonist.

This was sad to read. I still have fond memories of reading his Wally West Flash run. I hope to see him drawing professionally again soon.

My friend got back to me and said Hero Initiative is on it, so hopefully things will happen to help Bill out. I'm grateful to see this is getting attention and people who can do something about it are trying to.

My wife said she just checked her facebook and this story was everywhere, sahred by several of the pages of comic shops we frequent, several of the local creators we know, Dirk Manning's friends FB group, etc. Newsarama also did a piece on it. So the word is definitely out, hopefully something more than thoughts and prayers for Bill comes of it. I ordered a copy of the Journey trade from Amazon so hopefully alittle royalty money comes from it.

I also ordered a copy of Journey too and my LCS is donating $5.00 to Bill Messner-Loebs (directly) for every Journey trade(s) that being sold. |

Someone like Fantagraphics ought to reprint 'Welcome to Heavan, Dr Franklin' as well. I'd buy a copy.
