I've been listening to Whitesnake from before their arena-rock days.
I don't think I would have ever given these records any consideration (Coverdale is fine, just not a must-have artist), except for I saw one of them had a sticker on the cellophane touting Ian Paice on drums... sold! It turned out to be a good band.

From 2011 though I only just found out about this.
There's a longer version where Grant Morrison explains how when he was younger, he tried to summon John Lennon's spirit to write a song. Interesting in its own right - he sat in his room, surrounded himself with Beatles records after listening to Tomorrow Never Knows again and again, and removed anything not Lennon related from the room in advance. Apparently, Lennon's disembodied head appeared before him and the results are here.
A pretty good song and at times, surprisingly accurate.

Currently checking out Richard Hell and the Voidoids, specifically the album Blank Generation. I hadn’t heard of them until a few days ago.
Goes to show there are still many great bands to discover, past and present.

Revisiting Nick Lowe's Labour of Lust album for the first time in a while. The opening track, "Cruel to be Kind", is as perfect a radio hit as you could ask for. And while nothing else is quite as infectious as that track, the album is relentless fun.

Perhaps Villeneuve should've hired Schulze to score his film rather than that overrated, undertalented hack Zimmer. Just a thought.

I was just reading the other day that this decision may have been imposed on Villeneuve by the studio. The downside to working with Hollywood. Creative freedom not exactly their strong suit.

Was on a hunt for "bands that sounded similar to Wall Of Voodoo" and Love & Rockets popped up. I was familiar with them to the extent of knowing about "So Alive", but that's it

Really? I know that interviews and public appearances are usually little more than PR stunts, but Villeneuve seemed very happy with Zimmer's work on the film when talking about it. He's also not one to meekly accept limits to his artistic vision. When he and his first choice for scoring Blade Runner (Johann Johansson) couldn't agree on what the score should sound like, he regretfully let him go. Personally, I think Zimmer did an outstanding job on Dune; it was much better than I expected (less Zimmer-like, that is). The score was an important part of the visceral effect the most powerful sequences had.
