Good lord. All of a sudden, I'm ashamed of & for humanity.
More than usual, even.

I am shamefully under-informed when it comes to Canadian punk, but the DOA and Subhumans songs both sound good.
New Pornographers I'm familiar with - I have 2 or 3 of their cds, including the one with Letter on it. I think they write some very nice tunes, but wish they'd hire Todd Rundgren or somebody to produce them. All their cds sound kind of flat and tinny to me, and the songs deserve better.

Kenny Rogers & Sheena Easton - We've Got Tonight - LIVE I cannot accept this. It's, like, two things from my childhood, but from different families, different planets, different universes. Kenny Rogers like that? yes. Sheena Easton like that? No. This is more like it:

I've had this running through my head on constant repeat for at least the past 48 hours now:

Thank you, non-existent god, for ensuring that I don't have cable or a digital converter or anything else that would ever subject me to any of the above.

Motorama's Alps album:
heard their music in a used bookshop a year or so ago, asked who that was, and bought downloads of this and another album. I don't know much about them other than that they're Russians who sing in English, or so I was told by the guys at the bookshop.

Legion of Parasites -- Another Disaster CD. Because sometimes vintage UK anarchopunk is necessary to cleanse the mental palate.

Thanks to Dan B. in the Underworld, this song has been stuck in my brain the last couple days, especially the chorus:
This song made a pretty big impression on me when I heard it as a kid in 1971, and even though I don't think I heard it again in all the years since it first came out, it remained in my memory in a somewhat distorted form (slower tempo, even more mournful sounding than the actual song). Really cool to hear it again after all this time.

Songs from the Sonic Highway hosted by Dave Grohl on Itunes Radio. Currently Mannish Boy by Muddy Waters, preceded by a Surf Combat by the Naked Raygun and If You Want My Love by Cheap Trick.
