This weekend was Mego Meet in Columbus, Ohio, and the special guest was Marty Abrams, son of one of Mego's founders and inheritor of all things Mego. I couldn't attend, but I've heard form folks who did that Marty's presentation included an announcement that Mego will return to producing toys in 2018, with 8 inch figures and other items. A full announcement as long as what licenses/lines will be produced is coming June 16th. There were hints it would be announced today, but a retail partner of the new Mego requested the full announcement be held until the 16th. It was revealed there will be 20 new (not reissues of old which could happen too) figures produced initially. The DC license is still tied up with Figures Toy Company, but the Marvel license with EMCE toys and the Star Trek license for 8 inch figures with Diamond Select has ended too, so their is speculation these will be part of the new Mego launch, but nothing is confirmed and it may be wishful thinking on collector/fan's part. However, that speculation is slightly fueled by the figures een behind Marty in the presentation at Mego Meet... I can clearly see a Mohawk era Storm and Galactus figure there. Those are definitely customs, not prototypes, but "Doc Mego" is seen presenting with Marty here... and seems to be involved heavily in the Mego revival and was the driving force behind the EMCE Marvel figs and the Diamond Select Trek figures, and is a customizer of some reknown, and his company produces a ton of parts and repro items for customizers and restorers of Mego figures. So we'll see. -M

I would love to see Mego back in the action figure business! While I like most of the Figures Toy Company releases, some of the heads are really out of proportion, the Wondergirl figure has no neck, and some of the figures are poorly made. Would love to see Mego make the DC and Marvel figures again.

Interesting, but i'm wondering if there's still interest after all of the Mego and Mego-esque reboot lines have covered the most desired ground from the past (e.g., superheroes, Star Trek, Planet of the Apes, etc.)

Norm from a Cheers line... a Mirror Mirror Universe Kirk & Spock 2-pack from the Star Trek line... also from Trek, Sulu... and Chekov... and in the 14 inch DC line... Wonder Woman... Harley Quinn... Zod... and Batman in black... and back to 8 inch for a new version of the figure thast started the 8 inch line for Mego initially, Action Jackson... looks to be 20 figures in the first wave, each limited to 10,000 figures (8 inch) or 8000 (14 inch), with a total of 3 waves released in 2018, the first hitting between July 29-Aug 1 at Target. -M

Batman and Zod...something looks a bit off...almost like Zod's clothes don't quite fit? Batman's head looks a little small. I will still buy them though, haha! Wonder Woman looks great....even a bit like Lynda Carter. I never thought I would ever see new Mego figures and I am so happy!
May even get Kelly Garrett and Jimi Hendrix too! Dracula as well!

Who was asking for a Jimi Hendrix or Norm (Cheers) figure?

Who was asking for a Jimi Hendrix or Norm ( Cheers) figure? I am all over a Jimi figure. And Target asked for several specific licenses to be included in their exclusive deal with the relaunched Mego and Cheers was one they requested. They have done well with other products featuring classic tv series in their collectibles section and wanted those properties represented in the new Mego offerings. Since Target was paying for the licenses and buying all the stock produced for the first year of Mego, there's little risk in producing htose figures for the relaunched Mego Corporation. -M

I'm not a toy collector in any way. But I have a major soft spot for Mego from when I was a kid. I could see myself springing for the Star Trek and the Dracula. And probably an Action Jackson since I got one from my Aunt and Uncle when I was a wee one.
My problem is that I'm going to want to take them out of the box and mess around with them.

Here's an interview with Paul (Dr. Mego) Clarke of the new Mego Corp at SDCC, it's froma spanish language yuotube station but the interview itself is in English...
a few hints of the second (and third wave) and mention that the Target exclusivity ends in 2019 (and Paul talked Lord of the Rings as a property with a continuing fanbase so can I start hoping for a Mego LOTR line, please, please, please!)
