Whether it fails or not, I'm always interested in a different take.
I'll be signing up for HBO.

My interest just went from sub-zero to minus infinity - not so much for that quote but for his "f*ck Alan Moore" quote. No idea who Lindelof is, but frak that guy!

Ah, but Simon, white supremacists are bad monsters that should all be defeated (perhaps with jail time or even more extreme measures). Lindelof claimed that race and the police is the 2019 equivalent of the nuclear standoff between the Americans and the Russians (which I recall played a major role in almost causing World War III) after all, so it must surely be a topic that's important to the point that it should be hammered home as much as possible as a priority above all else in this new Watchmen series. I wish them well in mustering up as much effectiveness, intelligence, and quality as much as they possibly can in whatever political stand they want to take. Wouldn't want them to stand only to then fall flat on their face after all.

Oh, f@#$ no.
I'm tired of this dark, conspiracy-centric drivel, regardless of whose corpse they raped for the plot.

I missed that bit - which article was it in? It was from his address to the television critics association...but it's largely out of context. It's not "F#$ck Alan Moore for not approving my work!" it's more of "F#$ck authority!" He talks about how Watchmen started out as an idea for the traditional DC heroes...but the editors said no. And then he tried to use the recently acquired Chartlon heroes...but the editors said no. So then he created his own stand in heroes and it finally got approved and how Moore continuing to try and push the envelope and get his story told no matter what is the ultimate expression of the old punk rock creedo of sticking it to the man and now he says "F#$Ck Moore!" as a tongue in cheek way of saying Moore is the man now. And while I don't agree with that as Moore can't really be the "Man" because he doesn't control Watchmen anymore, it's definitely not offensive in and of itself.

“I have made personal overtures to connect with him and he made it clear that he didn’t want that to happen and I want to respect that... [but] I’m channeling the spirit of Alan Moore to say ‘F— you, I’m doing it anyway'." I'm don't entirely subscribe to the "can't touch Watchman because it's Moore's exclusively" line, but I do think Lindelof's comment is pretty ingenuous and self-serving - he reached out to Moore for approval, didn't get what he wanted, so just did it anyway. Stay classy, Damon.

Yeah, not very convincing. Wouldn't the parallel thing to do have been to say, "OK, Alan Moore doesn't want me to do a Watchmen show, I'll invent my own superheroes and tell my own story." ? Lindelof doesn't come across well in anything I've heard about this.

Open to interpretation, I suppose - it could be a "I'll handle you legacy with care" type of thing, or it could be an arrogant "I know you hate everyone who messes with tthis, but I'm different!"
Got to be honest, I'm tending towards the 2nd interpretation
