Pretty much what the title says with the understanding that humour is subjective. What comics or moments have made you laugh? It could be a dark and wry one liner from the Punisher or the Jack Cole infused antics of Plastic Man. Could be intentional (something from MAD) or unintentional (something from Cracked) and it could be an observation made by a letter writer found within the letter pages - any place your thoughts turn to when you read the subject line above.
Here's one of mine.
The Deadly Duo are a Superhero/Sidekick two-man team from the corner of Eric Larsen's part of the Image Universe made up of Kill-Cat (Alan Williamson) and his sidekick Kid Avenger. Kill-Cat has a particularly Batmanesque origin which he relates to his partner in The Deadly Duo #2 (1995).
"I was a kid of seventeen when I went on a safari with my parents. We went with my dad's business partner, Biff Brown. Together, Biff and Pa had turned our family fortune into an even bigger fortune! My parents treated Biff like family. I never trusted Biff. He was too handsome, too smart, too likeable. Then I found out why..."
Cue flashback of Kill-Cat's parents stumbling into a booby trap set up by hunters. They die instantly.
The young Alan turns on Biff screaming "You lead them into that! Murderer! You're after their money!" Biff denies it shouting "I didn't! I swear! You're talking crazy!" Biff defends himself from Alan's attack by punching back. Alan stumbles and falls into a hole to his seeming death. As we learn however, the young Alan Williamson was rescued by a tribe and presented with the powers which later made him a superhero.
Back to his story.
"Though it grieved me to do so, I left the tribe. I made my way to civilization and headed for home... and I confronted the murderer of my parents! Biff was slick. A tale of epic proportions was spun to try and convince me of his innocence, but I could see past his story. He welcomed me into the firm and I moved back into the family home. I became the dark crusader Kill-Cat, and fought for all the victims, bullied, in the town of Detroit! I aligned myself with clever lawyers. Through a series of legal maneuvers I eased Biff out, forcing him to invest in a shady company. As Kill-Cat I busted them. When the dust settled, Biff had nothing. He was left a broken man. After doggedly pursuing him for years, he decided to take the coward's way out and commit suicide."
Cut to Kill-Cat confronting Biff on rooftop.
Biff: Why? Why have you destroyed my life? Who are you?
Kill-Cat: I'm Alan Williamson - the son of the people you killed!
Biff: No! I didn't do it, I swear! Stay back! Stay back!
Biff falls off roof to his death. Cut to the present.
Kid Avenger: Whew! Cool story. What finally convinced you that Biff really killed your parents?
Kill-Cat: What do you mean?
Kid Avenger: He never actually admitted it. They stepped in a booby-trap in Africa. How do you know Biff really killed them? How do you know he wasn't innocent like he claimed?
All colour drains from Kill-Cat's face.
Kill-Cat: Oh my God - you're right! I never even considered the possibility! (he clutches his chest and doubles over in guilt) I may have driven an innocent man to the grave! My whole life is a sham! What kind of monster am I?
Kid Avenger: I'm sorry. Look - he could still have been guilty. It's possible, I suppose. I mean, you could have done the right thing.
Kill-Cat: No wait - this can still work. I'll rededicate myself to fighting crime and injustice! No innocent lives will, again, be taken!
Kid Avenger: There you go! That's the spirit!
There are actually quite a number of funny moments such as these which follows Kill-Cat and Kid Avenger around whenever Larsen writes them and I'll probably share more later.
What has everybody else got?
