I love everything with pirates so I picked up Scurvy Dogs just based on concept, but it's one of the funniest comics I've ever read. The humor works best when the comically cliched pirate crew of the title has to deal with elements of modern life, like television, blind dates, and... job interviews. "So, let's see... Your home address is 15 paces from Hangman's Tree Due South, and your Martial Status is... To the Sea. How nice for you."

I'm not sure how many funny moments are still funny out of the context of the whole comic in which they appeared, but here's what comes to mind: As I mentioned in my Astonishing X-Men thread, the comic timing of this sequence cracked me up as a kid, when Maddie discovered she was babysitting a dragon, not a cat: I'm also a fan of the screwball banter which peppered Joss Whedon's run on Astonishing X-Men.

I'm still a big fan of the bwahahahah era of Justice League by Giffen, DeMatteis and Maguire, often epitomized by the one punch gag... where often even the covers had a humorous gag element to them... -M

The original '40s Captain Marvel thinking he had the evil Mr. Mind, but it was just a regular worm with a big question mark over it's head! I thought that was laugh out loud hilarious. That reminds me of the time J Jonah Jameson needed to get a hold of Spider-Man and considered the possibility that, like Ant-Man, Spidey could talk to spiders. Cut to scene of J Jonah Jameson yelling at a spider in his office "You! I need you to get a message to Spider-Man! Can you understand me? Spider-Man!" as his employees stare at him from his office door wondering if they should call the looney bin. There's another great Captain Marvel moment from the Golden Age where it looks like the Big Red Cheese will be forced to marry a witch. We get to see Captain Marvel's thoughts at this moment by way of a thought balloon depicting him washing dishes while shouting "Holy Moley!" The fact that he thought 'Hm, I wonder how I'll be spending my time once I get married. Probably shouting 'Holy Moley' a lot, I imagine" made me laugh.
