Cool, so that are doing it essentially as a manga-style anthology. That's probably the best choice to get people to buy them regularly, but probably not the best to drive trade sales.. you kinda would pick, right?

Went back to Wal-Mart today. They were still stocked with all #1s, including the Teen Titans I didn't get before. Weird.

Went back to Wal-Mart today. They were still stocked with all #1s, including the Teen Titans I didn't get before. Weird. Many of them got a restock on the #1 issues, and the #2 releases are staggered 2 weeks apart. Superman and Justice League #2 came out a week ago, and Batman and Teen Titans #2 should be out next week. -M

I stopped getting these and simply frustrated at my Walmart's inability to keep them stocked and sold my only purchase there - JLA last week at my LCS.
My LCS don't carry these for a variety of reasons ... at owner's understanding and policies.

My LCS don't carry these for a variety of reasons ... at owner's understanding and policies. The only one I have found was Superman #1 and that was last week at a Walmart across town. The issue wasn't even where it should be. Somebody had picked it up and most likely read it while walking the store and left it in the Toy section. Don't believe this is going to be very successful as there is just no copies to be found consistently. Even Archie publishers know you have to put enough copies out and in/at the same place so people will see it and want to impulse buy it at the checkout line.

i always love DC comic, DC Writers are very talented. but it should be 1$ for 100pages.
and i think "100-PAGE GIANT" is a new business strategy of DC

I have seen 6 or 7 different Wal Marts have these and only 1 hasn't restocked them at least once (and that one was in the middle of a reset of the register area and that collectible section was not present during the reset so they never had them to begin with). The problem was retailers and speculators swooped in and bought them up the first time so they never saw any shelf time until the restock happened. -M

Here's the reason why my LCS doesn't stock these 100 page Comics -- because they sell quickly and many buyers go home UNHAPPY and constantly restocking them.
My nearest Walmart is a 25 minute drive and the problem of parking that so horrible that I don't shop there anymore; the next one is a 40 minute drive and that's true about 5-7 of them in my area alone.
Nobody that I know of -- don't shop at Walmart period.
Walmart has two problems -- No Parking and often do not stock that often of which makes shoppers angry and very unhappy.
So, I avoid it.

The third issues of all series are out now. Issue #3 of Superman starts the Tom King 12 part story line and #3 of Batman starts the 12 part Bendis story line for those who might be interested. Supes and JL #3 have been out a couple of weeks, Batman and Titans #3 came out this week.

It's actually a very old strategy.
The first comic I ever bought back in 1974 was a 100 Page Giant for 60 cents.

I've been able to find all the issues like clockwork lately. I worried a little bit after Month #1.
The second nearest Wally-World has always stocked them on their release day and DC has done a much better job advertising the on-sale dates for the issues.

The Swamp Thing Halloween Horror 100 Page Giant Special featuring a new Swamp Thing story by Brian Azzarello and Greg Capullo is out. I picked up a copy on the way home from work tonight. It also reprints the debut of Swamp Thing in House of Secrets #92, Batman 237, Brave & the Bold (2000s series) 32 (Aquaman & the Deomon) and a couple of shorts from previous Dc Halloween specials. -M

Spoilers ahead! The Azzarello story is sort of Swamp Thing teaser at the beginning of the issue. Other highlights: The Zatanna story is a brief anti-drug piece by Paul Dini with distinctive art by Dustin Nguyen. There's a short piece by Steve Niles and Dean Ormston in which Superman disposes of Kryptonite Zombies on the moon: J. Michael Straczynski indulges in his love of Lovecraft with an "Aquaman and Etrigan vs Cthulhu" tale with art by Jesus Saiz: And a couple of other short pieces as well. The real heart of this 100 pager is the reprint of the fabulous Denny O'Neil/Neil Adams "Grim Reaper" Batman story which gives a story credit to Harlan Ellison. It's received some modern coloring retouches and looks completely contemporary to me, as Dick Grayson and his college buddies enjoy the famed annual Rutland superhero parade, and Batman fights a scythe-wielding villain. All that's missing from the ending is a reference to "meddling kids!" Plus cameos from stand-ins for Marvel characters, including a Captain Israel who has a Star of David on his shield to avoid copyright infringement. The original Len Wein/Bernie Wrightson "Swamp Thing" story is included, but it hasn't been recolored, and the omission of the amazing original cover is criminal:

Except for the Swamp thing story, they are all reprints. House of Secrets 92, the Batman story, the Aquaman/Etrigan issue from the most recent Brave & the Bold (non-animated) series and a pair of shorts from previous Halloween Specials DC did. Only the 12 page Swamp Thing story is new, same as every Wal Mart issue, 12 new story pages and the rest is all reprints. If you haven't read the previous stuff, it's a good deal, if you have it already, not so much, but these are targeted at non-traditional comic readers so it's a good chance everything will be new to them.
