I'm sure I would have been all over Rare Bit Fiends. I loved Veitch's stuff.

Thirty years ago today, the first issue of Hulk 2099 went on sale: Somehow I never knew that existed 😅 The UK Spiderman comic I used to buy featured Spiderman 2099 as a backup, but I didn't care for it much. A few years later I'd really like Leonardi's art, and realised he was much better suited to a less scratchy inker, like Bob Wiacek.

I would say Hulk 2099 was my favourite of the 2099 books. That kind of art didn’t usually appeal to me, but I just found there was a lot in the book to enjoy.

I think I missed a couple of comics in previous posts. Shaman's tears and The Maxx were about the only Image books I got regularly. I did try the first Wild Star. I got the whole Topps Lone Ranger and Tonto, for tim Truman, more than the character (though I love the Ranger). I also got Zorro, at first but I don't recall for how long. The Big Book of Urban Legends was the first in that series and I got it. Filled with the kind of stuff that Tik-Tok now tries to pass off as real. I got most of the Bravura line, from Malibu, but drew the line at Man Called A-X. I also skipped Tekno Comics, when it was clear that the names being used to sell titles were not writing those series. I didn't give them long and they didn't last long. I think I was still getting the Flash, at this stage, but I can't recall specific covers very well. I got some back issues and jumped onboard for the tail end of The Return of Barry Allen and I believe I was still buying through Terminal Velocity. I don't think I continued after that, but am not sure. I didn't include it because I don't have a clear memory. I was always a sporadic Flash reader. With Wally, I read the early issues and then nothing until Waid, then nothing much after Terminal Velocity. Grendel Tales features the work of Darko Macan and Edvin Biukovic, who did some of the best of the Grendel Tales run, mixing in a bit of the real war is Bosnia and Croatia. Really liked their stuff, though we didn't get a lot, in the US. Biukovic died in 1999. I'm sure Edo can talk more of their work. I forget how I discovered Project Fire. I think I had read AKA Goldfish, by this stage or maybe just heard about it. I was getting a few titles from Caliber; so, I probably paid attention to their solicitations and they likely referenced Goldfish. The plot was right up my alley, as I covered in my Spy comics thread (which I need to get back to, to talk about Queen & Country and Velvet).
