I've poked around a bit...And maybe I'm not seeing it...or maybe it isn't there.
Is there a way to turn off signatures? I find a lot of them very distracting and intrusive.

Go to your Profile - Edit - And go to the Section called Show Signatures and click on NO. Save it and all other Members Signatures will not display at all. |

And, on this note, I'd like to suggest that image signatures not exceed 900 x 200 pixels. We don't have a hard fast rule about this yet, but we do want to be considerate of the load-time lags and visual distraction large signatures cause for some fellow posters. If my signature was distracting at all I would like to offer you an apology. But if my signature was intrusive I would like to offer you a VERY, VERY big apology. I wouldn't want to do that to anyone.

Never take anything Slam says too personally. It's an unwritten rule around here  That being said, I am suggesting a maximum signature size of 900 x 200. It's less disruptive on the eye that way. I should probably also suggest no animated gifs in sigs. No one has tried this yet, but it would be a major headache to look at if someone did. |

I officially updated the rules to reflect the new specifications on signatures. 900 x 200 pixel limit, no animation.

I just spent an hour making my signature fit the requirements, and even though my files are reading 864 x 175, it still looks too big on here. Thoughts, anyone? Should it try for smaller or is it fine?

The animated gifs slow page loading time way down. Best not to allow them here. |
