Toys and art form today's show... vintage loose Flash Gordon from the 1979 Mattel line based on the Filmation animated series... that's the second figure from the line I have, I picked up a loose Mong 2 summers ago. Jeff Austin was selling off original art to help pay off an emergency room visit, mostly his own but some he had collected over the years, most of it was stuff used in various fanzines over the years. I picked out three pieces from him (which turned out to be six because he recycled pages and did stuff on the flipside too) The first was this piece showing a prehistoric warrior... which had this bonus piece on the flipside... second was this Phantom page... with this caped hero on the back... and lastly this Viking warrior... which had this monster as a bonus on the back... I also commissioned this sketch card of Hawkman from Adam Fields... and lastly I picked up 2 prints for my wife from Nate Xopher (he and his brother Lee were set up, I picked up Lee's self-published comic and prints from Nate) Wonder Woman... and Black Panther... -M

It seems Jakks figures is providing the Disney/Marvel answer to Funko's Hero World line, I found this Avengers set at Wal Mart yesterday... There was also a Spider-verse set, and 2 Disney sets (Toy Story and moans) on the display. Not sure if there are more coming or not. I would thing a second Avengers set with Captain America and Black Panther would be a no brainer, though I am hoping for an Infinity Was set with those two and Doc Strange, Thanos as the villain and maybe one of the Guardians (Gamora for a female figure or Rocket or something. -M

Infinity War toys are hitting the shelves and I picked up the Doctor Strange Titan heroes figure form the infinity War line at Wal*Mart last night... They had Groot, Falcon, Star Lord and Black Widow as well, but I don't like the green colored costume of Widow in the Infinity War toys so I passed on that one even though I usually pick up any Widow toys. It looks like she's wearing a turtle shell. -M

Found the Swamp Thing figure from the Justice League Action line while out and about this afternoon... also found the Darkseid figure from the Total Justice line at a little vintage toy store I stopped at while out... They also had the Dr. Fate figure (but not the Wotan figure it came with in a 2 pack) loose from the Brave & the Bold Action League for $3... -M

Picked up the Emerald City Con exclusive Funko Ahsoka plushie at Hot Topic and then got the Rey ornament and General Leia Itty-Bitty at Hallmark: Got the Hot Topic exclusive Black Canary and Poison Ivy Bombshells Dorbz, and found Hawkman on clearance. The guy at the counter said the clearance ones were Buy One, Get One Free, so I grabbed Aquaman too: Finally, I had gone to Hallmark to grab the Itty-Bitty Mister Freeze and because I had a rewards coupon. Both the Rey ornament and Aquaman were 75% off, but didn’t count towards my coupon, so I ended up grabbing that General Leia to go with Our Heroines of Star Wars shelves, even though we don’t have a ton of General Leia stuff.

We ran over to Columbus today, for a couple of reasons, and we stopped at a Half Price Books to trade in some books and pick up some stuff with the 50% coupons, but while we were there I found this for Amy, who is a huge fan of the Gargoyles cartoon... and next door was a Wal*Mart, where I found the Wal*Mart exclusive Marvel Legends Thanos figure... -M

Through some folks at the Mego Museum I found out Meijers was selling a canvas print based on the packaging art of the Mego Pocket Heroes line, so I picked one up this morning... I also picked up this Marvel canvas print hey had there too... I had seen a version of this third print a few weeks ago, but it was kind of pricey, but I found one at a much better price on Amazon, and it recently arrived in my mailbox... I really like the abstract color design of it. -M

Picked up this little rare gem I hadn't seen before in the most recent Lonestar auction... a fanzine style portfolio by Lela Dowling just as she was beginning her career as a professional artist (it's circa late 70s/early 80s). Lots of interesting stuff that just gives me the same feel a lot of the early D&D art did. -M
