Aw, hell.................. Justa tremendous artist and part of why I love the old DC war comics. He was a consummate artist and could draw reality, as well as fantasy.    It even made you want to buy crappy, rip-off toys...  |

One of the greats, he did such beautiful work, especially on covers. Thanks for letting us know, I passed it on to the other comic forum I visit, hope that was okay.
I associate him with Joe Kubert a lot, they both did those amazing Roy Crane style duotone covers on the early '60s DCs.

He shall be remembered with all the glorious art and memories he has supplied me with over the years. A really astounding artist whose artwork is recognizable instantaneously! So sleek and draws you deeper into the story.

He draws a gorgeous leggy Wonder Woman ... sigh, his work is deliciously appealing and what a master of his craft.  His pinups is legendary ...  I love the Golden Age of Comics and he's a favorite of mine for eons ... man, we lost a true friend for all of us here. |

Besides the Sea Devils and the great War comics he did. One of my favorite comics of his was a Punisher book he did in the 90s  |

 I guess he did ink wash on those DC covers I 'marvelled' over, and then with color over, it was quite an effect! Such a solid all around artist, I never knew he was involved with the modern G.I.Joe, and it's amazing to see these later works I've missed... I saw his work on The Rocketeer at the time though. |

I remember this drawing; the Macs in my elementary school computer lab had this as a piece of clipart. I've been trying to track it down for years, but Google always drew blanks. |
