He never really grabbed me as Superman. He has a nice career otherwise and doesn't need to continue putting on the cape. Same here ... I've never really embraced him as much as Christopher Reeve. I used to like Brandon Routh at first and he didn't do me any good and was marginal at best. Cavill needs to find another role and too bad that everyone here against him as 007 and I think he will be good as Bond. Whatever, Cavill decide to do next ... I hope it will brings him success.

I haven't seen a single one of the DCEU movies (and aside from possibly Wonder Woman, I likely never will), but I always thought Cavill looked right as Superman, terrible costume notwithstanding. It's unfortunate he never got to play a version of the character faithful to the comics.

Too bad about Cavill. He could have easily already been in at least 2 more stand-alone Superman films; there's no reason this couldn't already have happened if the studios had handled this better:
I am a huge fan of Superman: Man of Steel (2013), which was the first Superman film Cavill starred in - it's my all-time favorite Superman film, my all time favorite interpretation of the character, and one of the top five best superhero films - ever (And, this is from a guy in his late 40's - who grew up with the Christopher Reeve films back in the day). One of the many reasons I really liked the film were the scenes on Krypton in the beginning - where were almost certainly inspired by John Byrne's rebooted Superman comics circa 1986 (post-Crisis on Infinite Earths).
That being said, I hated the Superman/Batman film (the casting of Affleck as Batman was crap, as was the story), and hated the Justice League film as well - both were huge, steaming piles of s$%#.
There is no reason the studio couldn't have made 2 additional stand-alone Superman films instead of those other two.
Again, very poorly handled. Cavill was wasted on the Batman/Superman & Justice League films.

Wow. Okay, not a lot of love for the DCEU. I personally love Man of Steel, and if we'd just had a Superman trilogy instead, I think it would have gone a lot better.

Why does it boost Marvel? That's my thinking and frankly I'm mad at Warners Bros for not making a serious commitment to movies that focus on DC Comics. Unless you're a Warner Bros shareholder or board member, that sounds a bit entitled. With respect.

I liked Man of Steel and Cavill as Superman, so this is unfortunate. I guess I could see him as Bond. Didn't know he was British.

Weirdly enough, Christopher Reeve claimed he was approached to play James Bond in The Living Daylights.

End of DCEU
Whether you disagree or not -- I'm forever disappointed in Warners Bros for not fulfilling my dreams.

I liked MOS (as I mentioned in my last post), and thought they were going to make 2 more Cavill Superman films after this. So, I thought it was ridiculous that they instead made sub-par Batman/Superman & Justice League film(s) instead. The character is definitely interesting enough to be able to carry his own film(s), as was seen with MOS. There are so many different storylines they could have done, either from the comics - or they could even have come up with some original ideas. What a missed opportunity.

I just read an article on IMDB that Cavill may be returning as Superman (for a cameo) in the Shazam! movie after all. Shazam! is heading for 3 weeks of reshoots next month and the article indicated Cavill is rumored to be filming a post credits scene. Who knows if it will happen or not, but I hope it is true. I do like Cavill as Superman.
