Looks similar to the Canio mask worn my Cesar Romero and homaged by Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight.

I like it a helluva lot more than that abomination that was Jared Leto’s Joker, who looked like Lil’ Wayne dropped into a vat of baby powder.

Leto's Joker was based on Marilyn Manson, which was suggested by none other than Grant Morrison.

I really don't know WTF WB are trying to achieve... they want to world-build, but then pursue the same character in multiple versions with different actors... incomprehensible.
Agree that Leto was an atrocity, but then so was pretty much everything else in that film, but if they want to scorched earth it and start again, do that, but don't insist on continuing with Leto and have an alternate version, that's just madness.

Many members at my LCS informed me that they have mixed feelings about this and I'm planning on going to my LCS this Friday to talk about it and get a general feel of it. I'll report back that day.

You're thinking of it from the perspective of a fan. The general audience just want to see good movies. The general audience like the Joker. Simple as that.

I agree with Simon Garth. Not sure why thinking of it as a fan would be inferior to thinking of it as a casual fan.
Marvel has made billions off the shared movie universe model. DC should think about brand confusion. Appealing to a "general audience" for a comic book character is old hat. Joker is a niche of Batman. Maybe 10-15% of the audience would be casual walk-ins. Fans of today like to be rewarded and feel that comic book movies interlink. Even Marvel FOX movies upset fans since they are not part of Marvel Proper. So if this is the origin of the Joker or whatever, fans want it to fit with either Suicide Squad, Justice League, or even the Batman Trilogy. Heck, even your so-called dumb general audiences (who may be old) may want to fit it in Burton's movies or the 1960s show.
From a business sense, DC has different brands with TV, cartoons, comics, toys, etc. but since Marvel revolutionized the silver screen, there are new expectations now. WB is behind the times, and it's frustrating for me since I am a huge fan of DC's characters.
Regarding the trailer, I notice retro songs are in for comic book movies/TV since Guardians of the Galaxy.
