What is my prize for the most classic first comic in this thread? It's from 2006, does it count as classic?

Don't know specifically which one it was but the first memories I have of comic book stories would be:
- the Flash issue where Flash fights Gorilla Grodd for the 3rd or 4th time, and in the backup Kid Flash meets Silver Mask
- one of the early Tales Of The Bizarro World strips from Adventure Comics
- Superman fighting Titano
That's why for me the nostalgic Supes artist is not Swan or Plastino but Wayne Boring

First book I can recall buying was PPTSS #32...I remember hunting through long boxes that day and pulling up several and this was the first I had found. Still love the cover to this day and in general, this entire series was always a lot of fun (yes, even Razorback and the Hyno Hustler!) As for the first book I bought new at the time it came out, well this is a rarity since I usually and a back issue guy. But I got hungry for comics and there was this cottagy place we would stop at during out summer vacation to the cottage (a good 4-4.5 hour drive is in need of a comic or two) and I recall this being one I bought. Finally, the first comic I ever actually owned (and that is still part of my collection) was one my babysitter gave me, Amazing Spider-Man #2 Double Trouble.I found the rest of this mini drug series which is harder than one might think for a PSA drug series in the early 90's

Can't believe we didn't have a thread for this yet! Thanks for starting it. I was a little surprised by that as well. You're quite welcome. i find it very interesting to see what people first got for themselves and see the connections we have amongst ourselves...be it a character, a title or a company.

The two dimes came out of my dad's pocket, but I directed the purchase. It was summer, '73 at Kresge's in Lockport, NY:

My first comics were all adaptations. Strictly speaking, I wasn't collecting comics at the time, just trying to get my hands on anything related to toys/TV shows/movies I was already interested in. I always wanted the Star Wars one - the one on top so bad and I'm happy for you for owning that particular book. This is so freaking cool ...

Mine was Captain America #102. I bought Sub-Mariner #2 and Doctor Strange #170 that day, too, but it was the Cap that first caught my eye. Cei-U! I summon the Sleeper! Wait! No, I don't! Whew! That was close!
