What's the opposite of co-signed? Anti-signed?? then there's the three cornered struggle between cosine, sine and tangent

Difficult to be exact because I think I had one or two DC or Marvel pocket books prior to this, but the earliest comic I can definitely remember owning -- bought for me by my mum -- would be issue #18 of Marvel UK's Star Wars Weekly. Wookiepedia tells me this was published in June 1978, which would've made me 5 years old at the time. My mum used to buy Star Wars Weekly for me pretty regularly and even read it to me, since it was a bit above my reading age at the time. The first U.S comics I bought with my own money are easy to recall because I vividly remember how much of a revelation it was to me to find comics that were in colour (UK comics were predominantly black & white at the time). So, my first American comics would be Marvel Two-In-One #94 and Marvel Tales #145 (reprinting Amazing Spider-Man #5), both cover dated August 1982. I still have both of these issues in my collection.

This was a tough question to answer, as it forced me to realize how bad my memory is! I came to the conclusion that the first comic I purchased with my own money was Jemm Son of Saturn #1. I originally thought Jemm was part of the Justice League, but that was actually Red Tornado. Great comic though, and I still own it today.

I have no idea: I've always loved comics. You may as well ask me about the first piece of watermelon or first dorito I ate.

I bought these three in one swoop in a convenience store on a Saturday morning. Astonishing X-Men #1 X-Men 2099 #17 Spider-Man 2099 #29 Later that day I went to the local Woolworth's and bought X-Men #41. I really miss X-Men 2099.. they really had a few unique characters... it's crazy they've never really made it to the mainstream MU with all the time travel nonsense lately! I'm not actually 100% sure what the first comics I bought were.. I remember going to the store near where I had my first job, and buying Ravage 2099 #1, Spidey 2099 #1, and a couple Iron Man back issues. I also remember buying Stormwatch #1 and the 1st PAD Aquaman, but that was definitely later.

I was a young dude at the time but I think it was this gem from a candy store near where I lived.

I had the first issue of the Giffen/DeMatteis Justice League when I was a kid, but while I must have bought it myself new (no back issues to be had, and nobody would've bought it for me) I have no idea where it came from. I also don't know that I ever read it.
The first comic I can recall buying new is that ten cent Batman comic that came out during the Murderer storyline. I'd have bought any tie-ins that came out that week.

I was a young dude at the time but I think it was this gem from a candy store near where I lived. This is such a great book. Although I do prefer the Kirby years, there were still some almost-as-good storylines in the years following Kirby's departure. A lot of them, IMHO. And the Ben-going-insane story was (mostly) pretty great.
John Buscema art! Inked by Sinnott!

FF #112 was one of the first books I bought when I started getting back into comics after a 20-month hiatus. I agree, the story and the Buscema/Sinnott art were both great!

Cheers for back issue boxes. I picked an issue at random. I think I went in to look at pogs...
