If you could order an art commission from five comic book artists, living or dead, from the past 100 years, which artists would you choose, and what characters would you ask for in the scene?

Narrowing it down to 5 is near impossible, but I am not going to cheat and give alternates.
Will Eisner-The Spirit with one of his femme fatale opponents Frank Frazetta- an Almuric piece that channels both his Conan and Buck Rogers works Al Williamson-a Flash Gordon vs. Ming the Merciless piece Joe Kubert-Hawkman meets Tarzan and Tor Steve Ditko-Doc Strange and Clea meet Eternity
there's so many others I might have chose, but 5 is 5.

beccabear67 ... I like your choices here and it's okay to "cheat" ... Your selection of Jack Kirby Silver Surfer and Gil Kane Green Lantern would be my honorable mentions.

I'd commission Jim Aparo to do a mock Brave & Bold cover featuring Batman and Dr. Mid-Nite vs. Man-Bat. I'd have Jack Kirby draw the 70's Sandman joining in on a dream battle between The Demon and Mr. Miracle. I'd ask Dan Spiegle to draw the Phantom Stranger in a dreary, rain-drenched city street scene, populated with several Spiegle-esque "character actors." Bill Everett would be called upon for an undersea shot of Namor and Namorita battling a sea monster. Finally, I'd like to see Murphy Anderson serving up Hawkman and Hawkgirl vs. the Spectre.
That's all I'd ever need in my fantasy original art commission collection!

Great topic!
I would commission LB Cole to draw Mephisto standing over Spiderman (drawn by Steve Ditko), Daredevil (drawn by Bill Sienkiewicz), Captain Marvell (drawn by Jim Starlin) and the Human Torch (done by Alex Ross).
Don't ask me why those four team up to take on Mephisto....just imagine the awesomeness!

Russ Manning - Korak and Meriem. The son of Tarzan is the first book I read, and Manning is to me the ultimate Tarzan artist. We didn’t see enough of Meriem in his strips, though!
Michael Golden - Lord Taharqua. What can I say? Michael is one of my favourite artists, and the joy of having him draw one of my characters would be hard to overstate.
Jack Kirby - Conan the barbarian. Jack is the classic Marvel artist, and he drew Conan only on e (withiut the heas, redrawn by John Romita!) on the cover of giant-size Conan #5!
Jaime Hernandez - Betty and Veronica. Nuff said. Jaime is a god in my eyes.
Philippe Druillet - Sandman. Wanna go for a psychedelic look? Go get the best!!!
That’s a pretty sweet subject! Lots of unattainable wishes up there, but they would all have been fantastic! Ah, the things that could have been.

Time to answer my own question! I must confess that my answers largely betray my junior high collection.
Will Eisner - a splash page working the words "The Spirit" into some cool scene with the titular character. Bill Sienkiewicz - Warlock riding Cannonball into battle (watercolor/mixed media) Arthur Adams - Spiral and Mojo Paul Smith - Kitty Pryde and Nightcrawler vs a Brood warrior Alex Ross - Acroyear and Bug

Mark Bagley: Venom seated at a dinner table, genteelly eating monkey brains while Willie Scott (from Temple of Doom) looks on with utter disgust. Kerry Gammill: A recreation of the Superman #233 cover, but with Supergirl instead of her cousin. Mike Mignola: Hellboy fighting the Flying Spaghetti Monster and a bunch of mini-FSMs. Jerry Ordway: Superman (wearing the Fleischer costume) with the Fantastic Four (wearing these costumes) fighting the Brood on an alien planet. Kurt Schaffenberger: A (non-sexualized) pin-up of the post- Crisis Lois Lane.

John Romita Sr. - A drawing of Peter Parker and the cast of late '60s Amazing Spider-Man hanging out at the Coffee Bean, with special emphasis on Mary Jane Watson and Gwen Stacy.
Al Williamson - A pin-up of the main Rebel cast of Star Wars, pictured in the Rebel base on Hoth at the start of The Empire Strikes Back, with oodles of delicious background detail.
Frank Hampson - A glorious watercolour painting of Dan Dare and companions standing on a launchpad at Space Fleet headquarters on Earth, with some awesome looking rockets looming behind them in the background.
Brent Anderson - A moody, action splash page of the Confessor and Altar Boy kicking the crap out of some lowlife crooks in Astro City.
Hergé - A simple pin-up of the cast of Tintin, which the boy reporter and his dog Snowy front and centre.
