Humanoids is set to announce a new imprint/line of original comics called H1 at NYCC this coming week. They recently announced they had hired John Cassaday (Planetary, too many covers to list) as Chief Creative Officer of the line and today announced they had hired Mark Waid as Director of Creative Development. They will be looking to work with and develop new talent with strong voices as well as veteran creators with strong creative visions. I am curious to see what kind of books will emerge form this line. Humanoids has done some strong stuff int he past, but most of it has been English versions of European material or an Americanized version of Metal Hurlant with both American and European creators on board, but hasn't been much of a force in the American market for the last decade, so I am intrigued by what this could entail.. -M

So the H1 announcement was made today at NYCC...a new shared super-hero universe featuring these creators... from the press release... it launches in July with 3 ongoings and several mini series...the following are announced but no creative teams have been associated with the titles yet. I am less excited that it is a super-powered shared universe (they seem to be a dime a dozen), but if anyone can get it right it is this group of creators and the series' premise look interesting at least. A lot depends on the respective creative teams. -M

In addition Humanoids will be doing soem self-contained minis not part of the H1 line...these have creative teams attached. These sound pretty interesting, especially the last one. -M

I'm sure I will sample a lot of the number 1's based on creative teams, but unfortunately, the demise of Crossgen and its shared universe stills weighs heavy on me. I doubt I'll go all in everything unless I'm blown away.
The Big Country looks great though. I'll get that one for sure.

I'm not familiar with most of those names and none of the premises jumps out at me in and of themselves, but one or two sound like they could have some potential, depending on how they're handled. I'll keep an eye out.

This has me excited.
I'm a Humanoids fan, and they got my attention with John Cassaday as CCO, and later raised the bar with Mark Waid as Director of Creative Development.
Humanoids is class and even they're not-so-great stuff beats most of the market.
I'll be buying these.
Currently getting Fantastic Four at Marvel, Hawkman and The Terrifics at DC.
Catching up on being way behind on my Valiants.
Other than that, H1 will be the only other things I'm currently buying new.
The rest is sale stuff or stuff I'm catching up on from years before.
