Terrifics Annual 2018.
3 stories.
The first is by Gene Luen Yang & Joe Bennett. A Halloween party at Stagg Manor. Stagg screws up an experiment trying to steal Plastic Man's powers. And the party ends up "crashed" by plastic monsters.
The second story is by Mark Russell & Evan Shaner. It tells Java's "origin" story.
The third story features Tom Strong by James Asmus & Jose Luis.
All 3 stories added further detail into the monthly title. The first was fun showcasing Stagg and a Halloween party. Definitely felt old school. Silver Age silliness but in a good way. The second was more serious as it made Java more interesting and less one dimensional. The third showed what Strong was doing & why he got trapped and sent out a distress call way back in issue one.
A good use of an annual - to tell stories that enhance the monthly series.
8/10.

Tony Stark: Iron Man #5.Written by Dan Slott. Art by Gang Hyuk Lim. The story "pauses" for a one issue focus on Arno Stark. Slott's first 4 issues on Iron Man have been uneven. Decent but trying too hard to be "fun" or clever. However this issue was just boring. 2/10.

Daredevil #610.The Death of Daredevil (part 2 of 4). Written by Charles Soule. Art and Cover by Phil Noto. Matt continues his crusade to get Kingpin out of the NYC's mayor's office. And as the title of the arc states... he will pay a high price to achieve his goal. Soule continues to set the pieces in place for the final chapters of this arc and his entire run on DD. Some parts feel rushed (I feel an extra issue might have helped) but overall this story has been great (so far). Hope Soule nails the ending next month. 8/10.

Heroes in Crisis #2 by King, Mann, Morey, and Prianto: The mystery of what happened at Sanctuary continues as a quite surprising character is added to the body count. After the events of the previous issue, Booster Gold is approaching this as Batman would (according to him), by setting out to solve this mystery, which leads him to an explosive encounter with the Flash. Harley Quinn goes into hiding and is found by Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. Also, a clue is revealed during Citizen Steel's autopsy. We learn that what is recorded at Sanctuary is deleted, however a mysterious group has some of the recordings and Lois Lane enters the picture. Very slow building mystery here. Not quite on board with this story as I was not aware of Sanctuary, unless it popped up in some of the titles I don't read. The art is nice and even though it is split between 2 artists, I really didn't notice. Only 2 issues in and 7 to go, and I hope they can keep the momentum going (although it is a slow build). So far, I would compare this to a Netflix show...little things happen in the beginning and by the 4th episode, it really picks up (and hoping that's what will happen here). I got the cover depicting Bane breaking Batman's back and it is gorgeous despite the gruesome scene depicted. 6/10

Stranger Things #2Written by Jody Houser Art by Stefano Martino Summary: Will Byers is stuck in the Otherside and on the run from the Demogorgon while his friends try to find him. Plot: While I still like the concept of of exploring Will's time in the Otherside the pacing here in this issue was a real drag. Giving us simply a view of the Otherside during the events we saw in the series doesn't give us anything new, it's just fan service and that holds nothing for me. The first issue was fantastic in that it gave Will some much needed characterization so I'm hoping that Houser goes back to that in the future. Art: Martino is certainly capeable of building a dark and gloomy mood, which works perfect for depicting the Otherside. Grade: 5/10

Archie Meets Batman 66# 4 by Jeff Parker, Michael Moreci, Dan Parent, And J. Bone: The villains plans to take over Riverdale picks up some steam in this issue as the Joker tries to mind control Jughead, Catwoman attempts to do the same with all the boys in Riverdale, and The Siren controls the adults. By the end of the story the leadership of Riverdale has given control over to the villains as Batgirl and Robin try to save Jughead. More silly fun in this enjoyable series, although the story could Have been told in a couple of issues or a king size special. I guess they are wanting to throw in as much as possible from the old show...and despite the story dragging a bit, I’m still having fun reading! 7/10

Terrifics Annual #1: Like the monthly title, the annual delivered great art and stories. I agree the first story was very silver age! A threat, but with fun involved. I thought the scene of Metamorpho and Plastic Man playing Twister was hilarious and I felt bad for Plastic Man towards the end with the scene that involved his "son". I felt bad for Mr. Terrific at the end as well.
The second story about Java...wow. I didn't know much about him other than he was a thawed out caveman discovered by Stagg. I wonder where Java's story will go from here. The final story with Tom Strong...what an eerie scene with Phantom Girl in the final panel that leads to the introduction to the series.
Terrifics (other than the inconsistent art teams) is one of the best comics out there (in my opinion). Annuals are usually hit or miss, but this one is definitely a hit!
9/10

I have been enjoying Archie meets Batman 66 and I'll be getting the Terrifics Annual that contains three stories that md62 mentioned a while back and I should be getting it from my LCS sometimes next week. Sorry for not doing it individually and I also enjoying Hawkman a great bit too. The Terrifics are my favorite Modern Book so far ... Hawkman and Archie meets Batman 66 is exciting (Archie) and amazing art and stories are incredible (Hawkman) and really packs a punch too. All three of them are winners in my book.
I'm getting all my stuff via mail these days -- save $$$ on gas and troubles.
