I'm having trouble making posts with pictures embedded in them. It seems that when I make a post that has several photos, the board software cuts a bunch of it out. Is there a limit on the number of photos we can embed?

I have been having the same issue. It usually happens in preview mode or when I switch from BBCode to preview. I am not sure what the root cause is, but it has clipped text and pics when I have done so. I have found that using the BBCode mode makes it less likely to happen, though it has happened there too once or twice.

Is there a limit on the number of photos we can embed? I prefer to use BBCode than preview because I had the same problem as earlier and I did a test on it. So, I would edit your profile and go to Settings and change from PREVIEW to BBCode. I'm not a fan of preview mode of which it's the default editor.

There's a setting we have turned on that, instead of shrinking a larger image down to fit the screen, creates a scroll bar at the bottom so that you can scroll to see the whole picture. Is that what you're talking about?
Otherwise, I'm afraid I don't understand the issue. Could you post an example?

If you create a post, put three pics in with text between than hit the create post button, the post appears with 1 picture and some of the text missing.
Or you create the post, it works, notice a typo, click edit to fix it, click on save changes and suddenly part of the post is missing, some of the pictures, some of the text whatever, varies form time to time.
Just happened to me tonight creating the Kamandi post in the Strayed character thread. First time it cut out the second picture and the text associated with it. Edited, put it back in, and it all worked, then noticed I had a type in the text I added back in, clicked edit, fixed it, hit save changes, and now the pic and text for the first picture was missing so had to go back in and fix it again, re-posting the pic and all, but finally remembered to do it in BBcode and not on Preview, and finally it worked.

So I got it to work last night when I made my post in the toy thread. I had to play around with the editor to get it to work. It seems that the problem is triggered either by editing a post in Preview mode and embedding more than a certain number of pictures, or switching between BBcode and Preview mode editing. So BBcode editing is not necessarily a guarantee that it will work if you switch between the modes at some point. It's not a completely deterministic behavior either -- I switched back and forth between Preview and BBcode mode a couple of time without it happening.
That being said, BBcode editing does seem to be the more reliable method of posting with pictures. If you edit the post in Preview mode and everything looks as it should, it can still get messed up when you hit reply. On the other hand, when I edited the post to my satisfaction in BBcode mode and hit "Reply", it looked just as I expected it to.
I would also suggest that as a precaution, after you've finished editing the post, but before submitting, it would be a good idea to cut and paste the BBcode into Notepad or some other text editor before hitting the reply button. That way if things get messed up, you'll save a lot of time trying to reconstruct the post.

I stopped using Preview mode for anything but the simplest one-line reply the first week this site was live, and I haven't regretted it.

The purpose of preview mode is to preview what your BBcode will look like before you post it. Yes, you can enter everything in Preview mode and hope proboards will do it correctly, but it's a safer bet to get familiar with BBcode (it doesn't take long) and approach replies from that standpoint. I'm sure you can take the issue up with proboards support, if that's a venue you'd like to explore: support.proboards.com/board/44/support-board
