Whoops. Just realized that one of mine came out after Jan 1, 2009. I'm lucky I have a deep bench. Yeah, one of my choices was a title from July 2009. Shame because its a brilliant adaptation |

In the past, I've psyched myself out of participating in this grand tradition, fearful of missing the very high bar set by years of outstanding entries. But no more! I'm in! The vast majority of my picks hail from what some call the Atom Age (roughly 1946-1956) as that is my primary area of comics interest and the period when many of my favorite creators were at their peak. I'll likely screw up at least one entry, but I'm alright with that. Progress, not perfection. Right?  |

Some of my entries are probably going to be based on quite possibly unreliable memories, since I haven't read the comics in question since the 70s. If I have time I might be able to at least have a quick look at some of them before posting. And if I'm really lucky and on the ball, I might be able to read or at least begin a couple things I've always meant to try but haven't yet gotten round to: if they're as good as I hope they are, they could well win spots on my list.

Every year I like to post a detailed explanation with scans but this year it might be bare bones posts. I'm generally not an adaptation fan. Be that as it may, I enjoy reading everyone else's write-ups.

I have purposefully put aside and am ignoring my list. It shall be what it shall be until/unless I see how much duplication there may be occurring in the ensuing days which might change my positioning's or choices; 'cuz you know us old fogey's and our Alzheimer's can have us forgetting things we loved and cherished in the past.

I started scanning images, which involved getting down to the garage and risking a sprained disk by lowering longboxes stacked high up on metal shelves. Good news!!! I didn't find any mice!!!
(And now I have a pile of old comics that I must re-read again..)
