“Shang-Chi” is being written by Chinese-American screenwriter Dave Callaham, whose credits include “The Expendables” franchise and the upcoming “Wonder Woman 1984,” which he co-wrote with Patty Jenkins and Geoff Johns.

It might be interesting if it's set in the 70's.

It might be interesting if it's set in the 70's. Believe I read somewhere online that Marvel/Disney and the director are in agreement for setting the film in modern times as to avoid any of the racial stereotypes and criticisms of the past. They hope to portray Asian's culturally positive and similarly in tone/style as was done for Black Panther.

I'm just in wait and see mode on this as every time fandom and the internet starts nay-saying a Marvel film before it gets made it goes on to be a smashing success (Guardians, Antman, Black Panther, Captain Marvel) at the box office. They're at least 0-4 now and "boy who cried" wolf syndrome has set in in that I have stopped listening to them. They may be right one of these times, but they have been wrong so many times it's not worth listening to them. When it comes out, I will watch it and make up my own mind, the rest is just white noise.

When it comes out, I will watch it and make up my own mind, the rest is just white noise. -M This sums up my attitude towards ANYTHING these days: movie, book, music, comic book/etc. Rants all before a movie has even finished filming, Professional Reviewers totally trashing based upon their own OPINION, Internet sites leaking information faster than the scripts can actually be filmed and other such crapola in attempts to ruin or make a movie bomb. This is why for the most part I choose to ignore most internet pop ups and semi-reviews and prefer to go in "blind" and deciding for myself if. I like what I like and enjoy a wide variety of styles in most everything and DO NOT need other people's opinions to help me decide what I will enjoy. I am not a lemming running with all the others off the edge of the cliff... However, if afterwards you wish to pursue an intelligent discussion about something without trashing it all to hell and back then feel free to give me a shout. This is why I am a member here at the CCF, home of considerate, thoughtful and intelligent discussion and joyful banter without being mean spirited or the need for vulgarity. Thank you ladies and gentlemen of the forum!

While I do my best to avoid spoilers I do take a peek at reviews once a movie comes out to see if the general consensus is positive. I wasn't planning on going to see Shazam (it looked a little too goofy for me) but once I saw mostly positive reviews (and my wife expressed interest in seeing it) I took a chance and saw it. It was ok, the Mr Mind scenes made it worthwhile.
I did the same thing with Venom. Venom was dumb fun. But for the last FF movie the reviews where so brutal it looked like it wouldn't be a fun time, so Ive skipped that one.
And I think I'm skipping the current Hellboy too. But yeah, to look at some film being developed a few years down the road and to decided before it's even made that it's crap is pretty weak sauce, Unless it's by Mark Steven Johnson - he stinks!
