Does your local library carry any comics? I volunteer at mine and we do have a decent amount of comics, though the only "classic" stuff we have is the Neal Adams Batman omnibus, the first 2 George Perez Wonder Woman Omnibuses, and (stretching the definition here) a collection of the Todd McFarlane issues of the 1990s Spider-Man series. If Bone counts as classics, the children's section has a good chunk of the TPBs, and they seem to circulate well. We also have some individual comics as well, but most of them are just Free Comic Book Day giveaways.

Yes. Although, since I now live in Zagreb, most of them aren't in English, and American stuff (e.g., from Marvel or DC) only accounts for a small percentage of the total comics material available. Comics by local and then European (Italian, French, Spanish, etc.) creators are much more popular here. Zagreb, by the way, has a pretty big network of libraries all over the city, and as far as I know they all have pretty well-stocked comic/graphic novel sections. The big central library in the downtown area has comics shelves in the main reading room and then more in the children's section.

It's been years since I last visited my local library (I'm in south east England BTW), but last time I checked they had a pretty decent comic TPB collection. Given the current popularity of the Marvel and DC movies, I'm sure their selection has only grown.

Mine has a fairly sizable collection of TPBs and Graphic Novels as well as a nice selection of floppies (these can't be taken out and have to be read in-house). Lots of DC and Marvel superhero books, but also some more thoughtful GNs, and I wad able to read the entire Sandman series via their shelves.
I just borrowed two Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan, not Carol) and three Hawkeye (Kate Bishop, not Clint) TPBs recently, as these are not books I would ever consider buying to own but will gladly read them if they are available.

My local library has a decent selection of trades, but very little Marvel and DC, mostly non superhero and Manga. Our library are linked, so through the catalogue you can access everything in Southeastern Massachusetts and have them bring things to your library, which is quite nice.
The probably is the catalog is manual entered by the librarians at each library, and many of them have no clue about comics, so it can be hard to get what you want.. .they don't always include issue numbers, and don't always list the writer and artist right (several just list Stan Lee as the writer for every Marvel Masterworks, for instance).
So it has some warts... I use it more for Manga than anything.

My library has a pretty extensive GN collection with some very diverse offerings. Quite impressive, really. I've tried a few series there before deciding whether or not to buy.

Very few in mine.
The council I live under has made so many financial cuts (thank you, worldwide financial crash!). My library has become more of a social hub. There are fewer books/more PCs. I cannot recall when I last saw a graphic novel or trade in there.

Ours has like a wall and a half of manga, TPBs, some hard bound, etc. probably half to two thirds (not inc. the manga) are Marvel and DC. But a good selection. Unfortunately, it's in the YA/teen room, so I feel like a perv when I'm looking for stuff.
There are some in the regular section, but I don't get as much there. Seems to be a quarter Fables and collected Peanuts.

Last time I went to a library there was a small section, mostly had graphic novels and collected trades of Marvel and DC but noticed some 2000 AD stuff. If it wasn't for I already read/own them would have checked them out just to encourage that kind of thing

Mine is quite small, mainly they have about 40 assorted Marvel Masterworks and DC Archives and a section of floppies that you can't check out. Plus, a small handful Trade Paperbacks too; and some other assorted stuff too.

My library (mostly because me and my family are regulars, so they librarians asked me to help sort) has a section of comics in the kids room that are all ages (the majority are all ages type digests and adaptations of kids books like Percy Jackson).. they are also right at the entrance (as are the video games) so adults can view them without actually interacting with any kids playing or using the computers. They have a teen/YA section separate for the kids section, which is were the Manga/Anime stuff lives, as well as teen/tween focused stuff like Ms. Marvel, Castle Waiting, etc. The rest have their own section in a back corner that you have to know is there to find. It's decent.

All the libraries round here have "graphic novel" sections of varying sizes. Apart from some Essential volumes it seems to be mostly modern stuff, but there is a good variety. One of the libraries even has Alan Moore's Lost Girls.

I live in Lancaster County, PA. The main library in Lancaster city has an extensive collection of trades and GN. My LCS owner has donated most of them. He uses his profits on FCBD to donate new ones every year.

Trades/graphic novels, yes. Floppies, no. The closest to floppies they had was a stack of Mad magazines, but I don't think they carry those anymore.
