Coming off of the discussion of what should/shouldn't be allowed in the Classic Covers Contest, I was going to throw gasoline on the fire and use this, but decided to just make a regular thread. So: what are some good examples comic book style covers that aren't on comic books, fanzines, graphic novels, etc.? That is comic book imagery on things that aren't aimed at comic readers/fans.

WE had a whole thread on work of classic comic artists in other mediums here that is relevant to this discussion, but it's an older thread and some of the linked pics no longer show up. -M

(more the what than the who.)

These came to mind - the original pb covers to Max Allan Collins' Jack and Maggie Starr murder mysteries (art by Terry Beatty):

Here are a few more I really like that straddles the line of stuff geared specifically toward comics readers/fans (although they seem to be aimed more at general audiences): The British editions of Austin Grossman's Soon I Will Be Invincible, the HC... ...and paperback editions... Art by Brian Hitch on both of those. And also this edition of Tom De Haven's It's Superman:

Jack Davis did a million things that would fit into this category, including this Time cover and a record album. And so did Mort Drucker...

Like this... it is by Joe Orlando, but has nothing to do with comics. Or this one, which looks like a Norm Saunders men's mag cover or a Marvel Punisher magazine illustration: And a Robert Ripley spoof:
