We all have those days. The Blah's come around. Not so much depression as just not feeling in the best of moods or not enjoying the day. When those moments come around (and they always do) what are some of your "Go to" favorite comic book reads to lighten the mind and heart and mood? What comic's drive the dark clouds away and push the gloom aside for you?
I have several reliable runs which brighten my days anytime I pull them out for a read.
Avengers: especially starting with Cap's Kooky Quartet and through the early Buscema years up through the Kree/Skrull war and issue 100. I first found the Avengers in reprints of Marvel Triple Action and they were my favorite team to collect. Instantly reading the stories from that time takes me back to my youth when there was less to worry over and more to having fun each day.
Fantastic Four: starting around issue 164 with George Perez art up through FF 215. These were the days of my collecting the FF during my teen-age years and have the most sense of fun and excitement for me. I had much of the Lee/Kirby FF in reprint from Marvel's Greatest Comics and enjoyed them but the Perez years were fresh and new and were "my" FF at the time.
The Brave and the Bold: Haney and Aparo teaming Bat's up with various DC stars. Quirky and silly at times but this was my introduction to many of the DCU heroes and villains. And Batman wasn't the dark psychotic insane version that he has evolved into. This was a Batman who was intelligent, confident and a detective in search of righting the wrongs of the world with the assistance of his friends in the hero community! My 1st issue off the rack was issue 139 with Hawkman and the series quickly became a hunt each month to see who would team-up with Batman. These issues always deliver a smile and fondly held memories for me.
So what are your favorite go to reads on gloomy days? Enlighten us all and help wash away the blah's...

Don Rosa Donald Duck stories. Aways heart-warming, fun, and outrageously funny. I miss having an entire nightstand drawer full of unread ones. I've been through them all at this point, but I love returning to them every time.

I've been through them all at this point, but I love returning to them every time. Good call sir. I have only recently collected all of the Rosa Library last year (sadness, only 1 more book left and it is over ) and I know it will be one of my steady re-reads. Standing proudly alongside will be the collected Usagi Yojimbo and Elfquest and Archie books which I have built up over the last couple of years as well. All of these are really creative and imaginative series which have a wonderful restorative essence for my tired, weary soul when the dark clouds drift in.

It's common knowledge that The Brave and the Bold is my all-time favorite comic book, so that's definitely near the top of the list. The Haney/Aparo version is "my" Batman. Team-up titles in general do it for me, so DC Comics Presents, Marvel Team-Up, and Marvel Two-in-One aren't far behind.
Nexus, especially with Teve Rude at the drawing table.
The Avengers never fails to entertain me. I love the first 100 issues the most, but the Busiek/Perez run is pretty awesome too.
That anything related to Earth-Two is a must for me probably goes without saying.
But my ultimate go-to for that warm fuzzy feeling is Pogo. I've loved the strip (and its creator Walt Kelly) since I first read my dad's copy of I Go Pogo waaaaay back in the early '60s. Comics just don't get any better.
Cei-U! Good tooic, brutalis!

My votes go not to nostalgia for my childhood favorites but to two modern action/comedy series that draw on decades of continuity without either desecrating the past or being slavishly devoted to it. I speak of G. Willow Wilson's Ms. Marvel:And North/Henderson's Squirrel Girl.
