Interesting. I hadn’t thought of that.
The core of the characters are still the same though.
Is the current X-O significantly different than the original, or Bloodshot, or Harbinger ?

Is he the ruler of a nation, a warrior in space, or an independent agent working for the government at this point? I've lost track. Harbinger has never had a center. I've followed it all the way through. They spent more time NOT being a team than Chris Claremont's X-Men. Admittedly, I didn't read Bloodshot beyond the first story arc, so I can't comment there.

I pretty much had the entire Bloodshot first run and he came off as Valiants Punisher character. He mostly fought mob types. I felt it was a waste of a character. My favorite book was Eternal Warrior. I loved the teaser beginnings to each book based on the ancient past. Too bad the artwork was hit and miss, mostly miss.

Too bad the artwork was hit and miss, mostly miss. Gotta agree with you there. It was the '90s, and flashy art was everything, so anyone who could draw was being courted by the major publishers. Valiant had Barry Windsor Smith (and I think Frank Miller did a few covers), but otherwise it was generally unknowns, and there was either a house style of coloring or a coloring process in play that made so many panels look like they were done in watercolor, and not in a good way. Valiant was definitely ideas and characters over visuals.

I'm behind on the current series so I'm not sure. The last I knew he was "retired" and farming and then was leading a revolt against the aliens in space.

He now reminds me more of Wolverine than Punisher, but in a good way, if that makes sense, with his healing ability and false memories.

Valiant was definitely ideas and characters over visuals. Valiant didn't have the flashy art that Image did, but the concepts and stories were solid, which Image was mostly lacking at that point. Some artists went on to other things from there but included Bernard Chang, Rags Morales, Sean Chen, Butch Guice, Dale Eaglesham, Norm Breyfogle, Paul Gulacy, Joe Quesada, Keith Giffen, and a lot of newbies, true, but later the artistic bar continued to rise under Acclaim with work from
Rafael Kayanan, Sal Velluto, Leonardo Manco, Ashley Wood, Charlie Adlard, Mark Bright, Mike McKone, Darick Robertson, Simon Bisley, Doug Braithwaite, Clayton Crain, Jim Starlin, Patrick Zircher, Kevin Maguire, and Scot Eaton
As time has gone on the art has gotten progressively better and better. I think a lot of the creators that get rotated out from Marvel and DC before anyone gets built up to super-star levels like the pre-Image guys did do work for Valiant, so no shortage of talent now. I've heard the page rate is better at Valiant as well though I'm not sure if that's true or not.
