I read Crazy quite a bit in the early years. (And by "early years," I mean way before this one.) "Casper the Dead Baby" makes me uncomfortable just thinking about it. It was like somebody took a twenty-second "Family Guy" gag and made a ten-page story about it.

Mad, especially, and Cracked, to a lesser extent, were ubiquitous at yard sales in the late 70s. I don't think I ever saw an issue of Crazy at one. I have read a number of issues since then. "Kaspar the Dead Baby" was a great story.

The one thing that really helped Cracked compete with MAD was all that great John Severin art! Even after all these years of seeing his work on super-hero comics and his MAD work, the first thing I think of for Severin is Cracked!

Yeah Cracked was always second fiddle to Mad but it was pretty decent.

Because when Fritzi Ritz is on the cover, there is no other choice.
