Lovecraft and Howard, I can see, but did ERB write many poems? I can't recall any from my memory of the various novels and series.

Lovecraft and Howard, I can see, but did ERB write many poems? I can't recall any from my memory of the various novels and series. Most likely, like Howard, they were published in the pulps themselves not in any novel or series. Most of the Howard poems I have read were in the compilations of his entire Weird Tales oeuvre. Lovecraft had at least one poetry anthology published posthumously (Yuggoth Cultures I believe was the title), but I am not sure much of ERB's poetry was ever published/collected outside the Burroughs zines and fan publications after their initial publications in periodicals. I could be wrong though, I am by no means anything close to an expert on Burroughs, but there are a handful of poems of his listed on the Internet Speculative Fiction database, and a few others listed in google searches of ERB zines, so while not prolific, he does have a small body of works in verse. -M |
