Haven't watched it, yet, but, did watch a clip on Youtube and was more than a bit put off by the level of profanity. I'm not a prude and was a sailor and have the mouth to prove it; but, it did feel forced, like they felt it was necessary to be considered "adult entertainment" and because they could. The Teen Titans trailer already pushed me away as a potty-mouthed Robin just didn't work for me. I haven't even watched a clip of that.
I don't mind profanity when it fits; but, when it feels like it is being done, just because you can get away with it, then it serves no purpose, even from a character standpoint. Same with nudity. I have similar issues with Game of Thrones because of that and the nudity. However, for the most part, I felt the profanity on GOT worked, within story (usually, though there have been gratuitous moments), though the nudity, for no good purpose, was a sticking point there.
Now, I'm willing to concede that maybe I just saw a concentrated clip; but, I would prefer my comic book adaptations not sound like a Tarantino film, if the comics didn't in the first place. Even then, it depends on how well the comic used it. I will probably give this a try; but, my track record for this stuff isn't very good, these days. Agent Carter was the one series, that I really, really liked and even the studio abandoned it by the time they were broadcasting the second season and killed it as soon as the last second had aired. It figured, as it felt the most mature of the various comic-based tv offerings out there.
I'll tell you though, I wish that proposed Starman series had happened as that one always screamed that it could be a hit tv series, without being prohibitively expensive. You had good characters, great plots and sub-plots, and an arc that could carry a series forward. You also didn't need for your lead to be in a muscle suit or have to be on a steroid regimen and work out constantly with a trainer.
I also still hold out hope for Astro City (as that had been rescued from development hell, not long ago); but, have a feeling that won't quite translate.
I like the quirkiness of DP, in both the original and the proto-Vertigo form, to want so at least watch an episode.
