Polarity, the aren't company of Lion Forge has announced it has acquired Oni and is merging the two comics publishers into a single new entity-Polarity. article herehowever, it seems within hours of the press release, several folks at both Oni and Lion Forge found themselves out of a job as part of the consolidation process. More on that hereBe interesting to see how this all plays out, but it sucks for the folks getting downsized as part of the merger. -M

Polarity, the aren't company of Lion Forge Huh? I don't know what Lion's Forge is, but Oni published a bunch of my favorite... for want of a better word "Middlebrow" comics. (Blue Monday, Hopeless Savages, Killer Princesses, Courtney Crumrin...) Although most of those were 15 years ago. Still, I was hoping they were getting by and Rick and Morty money.

Polarity, the aren't company of Lion Forge Oh, it auto-corrected "parent." Got it.

Polarity is also the parent company that owns the Comic Beat news site. Lion Forge is a relatively newer publisher that has diversity in product and creators as it's calling card (some have referred to them as Milestone 2.0). Part of their line was the shred super-hero universe Catalyst Prime, but they had several imprints geared towards different age reading groups as well. You can read more about them hereand here's a video overview of their line they produced and have on their website... -M

I think this will be more of a blip on the radar than anything else. I liked some of Oni's offerings; but, am long removed from those days. They didn't have that strong a presence outside the comic shop, apart from kevin Smith and a few select others. Not up on Lion Forge; but, unless you are part of a larger conglomerate or are generating revenue from other sources (like Hollywood or merchandizing), it's tough to be more than marginal, in the market. I see mergers as less of a likely phenomenon than wholesale buying up of properties, for exploitation elsewhere.
