I noticed on the house ad that Jonathan Hickman is taking over X-Men? I know there into some sort of alternative universe are with alternate titles again, but seems like that's happening in the summer. Anyone heard anything? I mean, I don't dislike any writer more than I do Hickman, but his FF was OK until it got crazy into the parallel universes, so maybe one can dare hope?

He's doing two minis for Marvel-House of X and Powers of X which are meant to refit the mutant side of the Marvel U and set up a new status quo. After that, he will be writing the flagship X-book. The 2 minis launch in July and were solicited in the Previews for which orders were due last weekend. I believe both are 12 issues biweekly, or something like that, and the new X-books will launch the month after they conclude. Here's some of the covers previewed... -M

Here's an article on the Marvel website with a few more details. This seems to be the basic premise... -M

This is probably a silly question, but Xavier is back from the dead?

This is probably a silly question, but Xavier is back from the dead? Nobody stays dead.

Follow-up question: Is Xavier back from the dead this week?
Also I have decided to read Hickman's Avengers all the way through. Pray for Mojo.

Good luck getting through it!
I thought Xavier was still dead, too, but whatever. Any word on who the character that's a mashup of Colossus and Dani Moonstar holding Magik's sword is?

I like Hickman, but not willing to follow X-Men even for him.
Franchise is pretty much dead to me it's so convoluted.
They're claiming this is sort of a reboot but I've heard that how many times before.
If Marvel ever does a clean reboot, or a separate imprint, I might try it, otherwise, pass.
The last I read X-Men, and enjoyed it, was by Grant Morrison, although I was an Ultimate fan too.

Good luck getting through it! I blew through the first 14 issues of Avengers. Enjoying it more than I did the last time I tried. Some good character moments, a big 'ol Avengers team (which I appreciate.) I have no investment in the larger plot at this point, the villains are "generic portentous evil guy" cities are getting attacked all "What if we re-wrote the Authority except didn't frame this to any sort of human scale and with worse art" the book assumes I care DEEPLY about Starbrand and Nightmask of the New Universe (HA!) and I remember New Avengers (the companion book) being a lot worse. Also is this the Superior Spider-Man because if it's regular Spider-Man we are waaaaay out of character. Still, could be worse. Solid "C" so far.

Xavier has been back for some time now but not front and center in the any of the previous X books. Initial speculation was that this character may be the future child of Colossus and Kitty. Although supposedly Hickman has said that these new series will not feature alternate realities or time travel so really no solid idea about her at the moment other than she appears to be some merging of Colossus and Magik. (Though it is nice seeing 'a' Kurt wielding a blade again). I'm hesitant over this. To me, Hickman has always seemed to favor the Big Idea over characterization. Taken as a whole, his Avengers magnum opus is a considerable achievement (especially how he wove in elements of Ellis' NewUniversal project) but his characterization there came across cold to me. Tony and Steve were at the heart of the disagreement of course but given their history together, their personal conflicts throughout his run never struck a deep personal chord for me that I thought such a drama between comrades and friends should have. On the other hand, what I have read of Hickman's FF was quite good and had strong characterization for the Family. The Big Ideas, even from Reed, seemed restrained in that regard for me. I'll check these out regardless. If anything, Hickman is never boring.

I always “fall” for the X-Men relaunches before eventually giving up within a few months.
That being said, really looking forward to him taking on the franchise.

Depends on where you are in the series, but it was Octavius for quite a bit during that time.
