Great idea for a thread, rberman! Among my favourites are the irreverent Jesus & Mo, which makes fun of the more absurd aspects of fundamental religion, Existential comics, which manages to make philosophy funny and is darn informative to boot (like a comedy version of "The world of Sophie"), and... dare I admit it... Cyanide and happiness, which usually features horrible puns and adolescent potty humour but sometimes verges on the absolutely brilliant (as with its yearly "depressing comics week". I also highly recommend Boulet's blog. The translation is sometimes a little clunky, but the fellow is a genius. Check out this amazing 24-hour comic or this astonishing vertical tale exploiting the possibilities of online comics!

Existential comics, which manages to make philosophy funny and is darn informative to boot (like a comedy version of "The world of Sophie"), Clever stuff! Especially when accompanied by a quotation from Wittgenstein showing that he really did admit that his own writing failed the test it put forward, but he was going to put it forward as truth anyway! The foibles of mankind...

One of my favorites is JL8 by Yale Stewart. It's a really fun take on the Justice League...as 8 year olds! The humor is fun but what really makes it great is just how much character Yale brings to the characters. I honestly don't know why DC hasn't made him the writer on Justice League for real yet.

Polar started as web comic (now it's available in paper/digital). It's more James Bond than modern-day/cinematic James Bond, and art-style is sort of a cross in between Darwyn Cooke and Frank Miller.

False Knees is a comic that looks at avian behaviour by way of human behaviour:

The Non-adventures of Wonderella: They're only posted about once a month, and there hasn't been a new one since April, but poking through the archives is worth it.
