although the beach scene is lovely, this cover is too recent robot1a.
needs to be before 2009 Omg sorry. That cover is by Michael Turner, who died in 2008. I didn’t realize it was published posthumously. Thank you for the correction. I switched my cover.

Hey, I try to be forgiving of artists' individual idiosyncrasies but when your habitual "high heel" postures lead you into specifically drawing a woman walking by burying her toes straight down into the sand on a beach, wouldn't you think to yourself, "Hmm, maybe this staging is just not gonna work"? I mean, you just can't ignore that as a viewer, can you? That's not tip-toe, that's just poking post-holes step by step. Even if you've never personally walked barefoot on a beach, you just gotta feel in your bones that this ain't right! I liked the ocean scene. I didn’t pick this cover for the girl. You’re definitely entitled to your opinion and I hear what you’re saying. Personally, I think the artist can draw however they want.

I'm withdrawing my entry to focus on personal issues right now and I just want to disclose that right now. For whatever it's worth I noticed it; those '40s BP Startling/Thrilling/Wonder 'Xela' (Alex Schomburg) covers were some of the earliest use of airbrush color, and I just love the way those looked! I felt fortunate to have found two of those back when I collected golden age comics. I liked what little I saw of Michael Turner's Supergirl, that's about all I have, two or three covers.

I'm simply blown away by the stunning amount of detail on this cover by John and Marie Severin:

Not because it's a good cover, but because once you see it, you never forget it. Not an entry

Not an entry OMG! Namor has broken Sue's spine!!! His muscles have grown out of control!!! That would've been the Hulk's arms and neck at one time. Just sayin'.

I've deleted my earlier entry of Aquaman #9... this is what I originally thought of but when I saw MechaGodzilla had a similar 'Xela' cover up I didn't want to step on any toes... since he bowed out for other reasons, here is one of my all-time favorite covers from any time... "Aieee fanged one, now will you taste the steel of Judy Of The Jungle!"
