I am a devotee of the Lev Gleason line and have passed the word to some Public Domain fans I know. Thanks very much! I appreciate it. There will definitely be more public domain Golden Age characters (and Lev Gleason characters) in future issues. I'm working on #2 right now, and I'm using another character from Boy Comics who used to have his own backup series. And in #3, one of the main characters in the story will be a personal favorite of mine from the Golden age that I can't wait to work with. I have several more I want to use later on as well, but I don't want to get too ahead of myself. I'm also considering as a possible stretch goal for this issue doing some trading cards. I'm not sure this will happen, but a couple people have suggested it to me, and it's very appealing on a personal level because it would allow me to do the cards in the same style as the set of trading cards Lev Gleason issued in 1950. Again, I'm not sure this will happen, but I'd love to add a Trixie and a Death Mask card to that set to go with the Crimebuster card I have on my desk here.

Hey, gang! I just wanted to post a quick update. We just passed $1000! Which is double my initial goal, so I'm super grateful for all the support. I have posted a new update on my website discussing this a bit and getting into some details about how the campaign financials work, and also rounding up a bunch of various videos I've done about the comic and the Kickstarter campaign: crimebustercomics.com/2019/06/20/kickstarter-update-and-media-round-up/There are a three videos there at the moment, though I am also going to add a fourth, which is just the main video from the Kickstarter campaign itself. Here's a look at one of them - an interview I did with my friends at the Nerd Caliber website:

A little update here. In the week since we passed $1000, we've pretty much hit a full stop. I think the amount has only gone up by $26 in the last week, with just two new backers. But I had heard that's how these things go, so while it's a bit disappointing, it's not surprising. I am still occasionally getting new "followers' - these are people who have asked Kickstarter to remind them about the project when there are two days left - so it's possible some of those people will back at the end. And the end is getting close! Just over five days left at this point. I'm still hopeful that we will at least meet the next stretch goal - we're just $58 short of adding a Squeeks solo 4-page backup story to the comic, which I am really excited about, so fingers are crossed. I've written a little bit about this in my latest project update, and also added some new Add-On rewards. thanks for all the support! I'm really looking forward to this campaign being over so I can order the comics, then send you the comics, so I can hear what people actually thin about the story! It's nice that it exists, but it's pointless if nobody ever reads it! So I am really looking forward to sending these out.

We're back up and moving again, so I'm excited to announce that we just hit the second stretch goal, meaning everyone will get to read the all-new 4-page Squeeks solo backup story! Hurray! There are just three days left in the campaign, so it's going to be tight to hit the final stretch goal, but just in case, here's the latest update announcing the nerdy details.

Okay. I just backed it. Seemed like the least I could do for never managing to do a podcast.

I am looking forward to hearing people's thoughts on the comic once I send it out. I still have all my notes for the podcast! I mean, I also have hours of recordings with Confessor I still need to edit together. But some day, maybe we can talk about Sandman Mystery Theatre, because it's just the best. And I came up with a crazy theory about the series while doing the close reading for the podcast that I'm excited to share with people.

I was ummm'ing and awww'ing because that UK shipping is a killer, but finally though "what the hell" and backed it. Looking forward to reading that sucker. Not sure how it works regarding my address because I never had to enter that (I signed in with Facebook). But I figure I can PM it to you later. I mean, I also have hours of recordings with Confessor I still need to edit together. A labour of love, I'm sure.

It's insane. One thing we could try since you are going to be visiting the U.S. soon, is instead of shipping it to England, I could try and ship it to one of the hotels you are staying at. That might be tricky in terms of the timing, but it could in theory save the extra cost of the international shipping. Hopefully I'll be able to really get cracking on the third podcast episode later this month!

So, I'm not going to constantly keep spamming here, I think everyone gets it. I did want to drop just one more update. The Kickstarter for this ends on Wednesday, July 3, at 8:30 PM ET, so there's less than 48 hours to go now. If you do feel like this is something for you, then now is the time! And if not, that's totally cool, no worries! No hard sell from this guy.

Thanks for all the support, everyone! The Kickstarter campaign for the first issue is over, I've placed the order with the printer, and I can't wait to send everyone their comics. Thanks!!

Still waiting for the comics to arrive — it will likely be 3 weeks or so I'm guessing — but everything else is now in hand, all the other rewards. So I am hoping that once the comics arrive, I will be able to ship them out very quickly, other than sketch covers that need to be drawn. In the meantime, I'm keeping busy working on issue #2, as I need to finish the sneak preview that's going to be included in the PDF for issue #1. Here's a look at the Kickstarter Exclusive Legacy Number Variant cover for the second issue, featuring Trixie's sci-fi geek roommate Vera Veritas in an homage to Planet Comics #71:

The first shipment arrived, but the printer forgot to send some of them, so I am waiting to get the rest before I send the comics out. One thing they did send me was the shipment of blanks, so I decided to give it a shot. This first effort is a bit rough — it's been a long time since I worked with pencils and markers! But I'm satisfied with the result, and will do better next time now that I have a little practice under my belt. This, of course, is an homage to Kirby and Romtia's cover for Captain America #193: I have sent out PDF copies of the book to most backers at this point, but so far I haven't heard anything back from anyone who may have read it. I'm anxious to get the physical copies out there so people can read it! I'm curious what people will think.

I’m behind on most of my reading, but found the time to give the issue itself a read. Maybe more to come when I’ve digested it all and made it through all the back matter included in the PDF.
Really dug it. It had a great Hardy Boys/Scooby-Doo vibe. Liked the banter between Trixie and Chuck. And a good mystery to boot.
