Very surprised to read this. I didn't think Archie 1941 was very well received. Archie 1955
ARCHIE: 1955. Mark Waid and Brian Augustyn and artist Tom Grummett will do a 5 issue mini series set during the origins of rock 'n' roll. Starts in Sept.

I had a series pitch worked up a few years ago that covers a lot of the same ground as Archie 1941 and Archie 1955. Only, you know... I like my version better, of course. I will probably buy 1955? But I'm not sure. 1941 was a disappointment for me. I really want to support Archie Comics, but I haven't really loved much of what they've done storywise in recent years. Okay ideas, solid comics, but I want to love this stuff. I will say that Jughead's Time Police is promising. I certainly like it better already than Jughead: The Hunger, which isn't saying a lot.

I will probably buy 1955? But I'm not sure. 1941 was a disappointment for me. I was underwhelmed by 1941. But there was really nothing about it that screamed Archie to me except the names of the characters. I understand that they weren't going for the teen comedy thing. But the characters never felt like the Archie characters. As a look at the early days of W.W. II it was okay. But it never said Archie to me.
