Honourable mentions to adamwarlock and kirby101. I almost went with that Thor bondage as I dont think many Thor covers feature it but alas, Warlock has a special place in my heart.

berkley I couldn't participate this time around, but I'm quite fond of this era of Marvels, particularly the "Still Only 25 cents" phase. Reviewing so many of these, though, highlights one reason why cover dialog fell out of favor. So often it seems like an obligatory norm, not something that adds to the appeal. Captain America's shout-out to literally no one, Conan's boring royal proclamation, Iron Man's reference to an off-panel danger, Warlock's unconvincing alarm, the Guardians' threat-hyping...In contrast, the silent covers, or to a lesser degree, those that rely on blurbs alone, seem much more effective. I think that by this time, readers didn't need to be told the specific nature of the threats, especially when they were familiar and routine ("We must stop this menace or the world will die!" "If we fight, someone else will die!" "I'm trapped and I can't escape!" "I must fight alone!" *yawn*)

Prince Hal's cover makes me want to go out and buy that issues just because of the cover.

bertI remember now that there were some 'Still 10cent' DC covers briefly in the early '60s; I had one Action like that... maybe the first time a company did this?

I remember now that there were some 'Still 10cent' DC covers briefly in the early '60s; I had one Action like that... maybe the first time a company did this? Dell did it first - they were the first company to raise prices above 10 cents. When they raised the price to 15 cents, DC and Charlton both started putting the "still 10 cents" on their books to advertise how cheap they were in comparison. but Dell had been giving warning for awhile on their books that they were going to raise the price. I almost used a Dell for this contest, but decided to just stick with Marvel as instructed.
