Saw a link to this funding campaign at another site, and thought it might be of interest to many here, i.e., a standalone weird western comic written by Mike Baron and illustrated by Pat Broderick. Here's the promotional video: And here's the link to the campaign/pledge page.

That looks really great, but 25 bucks for what is essentially a single comic is awful pricey.

We're in the final countdown now for the Kickstarter for my new epic fantasy series Quest #1, less that 36 hours to go and it's coming down to the wire! Right now we're $276 short still, but I'm optimistic that the usual last day Kickstarter surge will happen and carry us over the line.
Here's the link again if anyone hasn't had a chance to take a look at it yet:

Just heard the news that Jeff Smith suffered a heart attack. Wishing him all the best in his recovery.

Black Canary is the leader and her team consists of Barda, Cassandra Crain (Black Bat), Zealot and Harley. -M I saw something about this today. It comes out next week. Several of my favorites are here - Dinah, Harley, Cass, Barda but the inclusion of Zealot seems like a rather contrived and clumsy scheme to either interest Image fans or to boost somebody’s pet character. I will proceed with caution. Maybe I will wait until I read a few reviews.

It won't matter to too many people here, but it doesn't seem like we'll get any more Fables stories per Bill Willingham's recent comments.

Others are free to use the characters.

I wonder is this is still a developing story.. is Willingham going to actually fight DC/Time Warner? Will he release the rest of the series some other way? He almost asks Mark Buckingham to do so in that letter. Or is this is last gasp for publicity in the industry. I guess we'll see. I have to say I haven't been completely enamored of the new storyline, but it has definitely had a few great moments... and I'd definitely keep buying anything puts out. I have to say though, I wonder how this compares to his complaints about Once Upon a Time back in the day?

It's developing further as DC has said he cannot make it public domain. Is it DC/WB just tying it up in court because they have tons of money or do they actually have some kind of ownership? I tend to think the former but it could be the latter I suppose.

I tend to think the former but it could be the latter I suppose. I haven't dug out the issues of Fables. But I was able to find the copyright info on the Jack of Fables Deluxe Edition Vol. 1. The copyright indicates "copyright Bill Willingham and DC Comics." So unless there's some reversion right in a contract the copyright is shared. One copyright holder cannot just release the book in to the Public Domain to the detriment of the other copyright holder. Willingham has dug himself a whole passel of legal trouble by "trying to avoid litigation."

I was really hoping that wasn't the case, as much I don't like his political stakes, I don't like to see the talent getting rolled by the suits but it's starting to look like he brought this on him self a bit.

Opinions about the "new" Moon Knight in Jan? Marvel has said Marc Spector will die in Dec.
