With the Royal Rumble on its way, let me ask this: Stone Cold Steve Austin has won the most Rumbles (1997, 1998, and 2001). Do you think anyone will ever win more than 3 Rumbles?
Batista, Brock Lesnar, Edge, Hulk Hogan, John Cena, Randy Orton, Shawn Michaels and Triple H all won 2. Of those wrestlers, 3 are never wrestling again, I’m sure (Hogan, Michaels and Triple H). Orton, Cena, Batista and Brock Lesnar could win a Rumble again, but I doubt they’d be booked to. Edge is with AEW, and even if he one day returns to WWE, I am almost certain he wouldn’t be booked to win.
Realistically, I could only see Orton having one more win to tie with Austin.

I had read something online about a Max Moon - Terry Taylor match at Royal Rumble that never happened. Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing that. Taylor and Paul Diamond would be decent; Taylor and Konnan could be awesome, in that time frame. I know Konnan was supposed to be Max Moon, but I don't think it ever happened, did it?

I’d have done that, and had Boss Man and Bigelow in the Rumble. If I had a wrestling forum, one could do entire threads about PPV matches that were planned but didn’t happen. Some examples include Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Kamala (WM IX), Moon vs Taylor, Bulldog vs. Berzerker (WM VIII), Hacksaw Jim Duggan & Sgt. Slaughter vs. Money Inc. (WM VIII), etc, etc. Yeah, we need a wrestlling forum for what if stuff like this! Plus polls, etc.

I've started to mix some WCW viewing in with my WWF viewing and more or less randomly started with 1992 (so I'm a year behind compared with my WWF viewing) and I've Superbrawl 2 from 1992 and WrestleWar from 1992. The Jushin "Thunder" Liger vs Flyin' Brian Pillman match from Superbrawl 2 for the Light Heavyweight championship was one of the best matches I've ever seen. Pillman took the belt from Liger in that one. Then, in Wrestlewar '92, the last 3 matches - Pillman vs. Z-Man (Tom Zenk) for Pillman's Light Heavyweight belt; the Steiner Brothers vs. Takayuki Iizuka and Tatsumi Fujinami; and the main event with the Dangerous Alliance vs. Sting's Squadron, were all really fantastic. Most of the rest of the card was just meh, but those matches made it worth the price of admission.

I don't think on tv (or more than once or twice); but, he did have a few house show matches. Pre-NWO and injuries, Konnan had some great matches (depended on his opponent, though). By that point, he had gotten lazy and banged up. Saw him a couple of times, in WCW, when he still had the mask (pre-Max Moon project) and I swear I saw at least one match in the WWF, as Konnan, under the mask.

Matches include Sting vs. Vader in a strap match, 2 Cold Scorpio vs. Chris Benoit, Barry Windham vs. The Great Muta (NWA World Heavyweight Championship), Erik Watts & Marcus Bagwell vs. The Hollywood Blonds, and The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express vs. The Heavenly Bodies. All great matches!

Superbrawl II is an incredible card. Windham/Rhodes vs. Austin/Zbyszko is highly regarded in the circles I move in. Arn & Eaton vs. Steiner Brothers and Ricky Steamboat vs. Rick Rude are solid as well. If the main event had been better, it would be even more memorable.

I haven't watched pro wrestling for decades but I plan to see the Iron Claw movie next week if my schedule permits.

For me, 1991-1994 is an underrated period for WCW. There’s the PPVs we’ve already discussed, but there was so much else to enjoy, from the prestige of each title to the truly underrated War Games match featuring Dusty Rhodes, Dustin Rhodes and The Nasty Boys vs. The Stud Stable. (The last great WCW War Games bout, if you ask me, because 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1998 sucked - and I’m not even gonna count Russo’s “reinvention” in 2000, why bother discussing that talentless guy?). I feel the same about the WWF, circa 1994. Some have bashed it over time, and I admit that for me, cards like SummerSlam ‘94 were pretty poor (Bret/Owen aside). But what about Bret vs. The 1-2-3 Kid, King of the Ring ‘94, the Razor/Diesel feud and so much else? There’s good in any era, I feel, much like comics.

It's the key period of WCW for me. 1988-90 is a holdover from Crockett. True WCW is 1991-94. Unfortunately, the RSPW crowd had already convinced people that it was a crap period for WCW by the time I got online and it took a while to chip away at the Scott Keiths of the world. '94 WWF was great. '95 was the nadir for me, however I've seen people trying to argue against that line of thinking of late, which is cool. WCW changed when Hogan arrived, even prior to the Monday Night Wars. It made sense for them to sign Hogan but it killed the WCW that I enjoyed.

I think we’re on the same page with everything, e.g. 1988-90, 1991-94, etc
For me, the WWF of 1995 had a lot that was bad. I’m told the 1995 Royal Rumble reduced the time between entrants to 60 seconds because of concerns over a lack of star power if the match went its traditional length. PPVs such as WM XI weren’t good. I did enjoy Shawn-Razor II at SummerSlam ‘95. But I’m struggling to think of a TV bout from 1995 that really stands out.
I’m not sure 1996 WWF was that good for me, either. The main events on PPV were good (I really enjoyed Shawn Michaels vs. Mankind at IYH 10), but I didn’t particularly enjoy most of the undercards that year. The only one that really stands out for me is Razor vs. Vader from IYH 7.
